Poughkeepsie NY, once the home from the thriving music scene, both local and national. In a time when all bands began to look, sound and act the same, arose I Became The Hero. Blending members from past Poughkeepsie based bands, IBTH set all egos and past projects where they rest behind them to form a band based purely on what they wanted to project and play. Bassist Pat Cody and guitarist Greg DiCarlo, past members of Pawling’s “Minerva” and drummer Mikey Lapick of “Copernicus” hailing from Arlington High School began writing together in the winter of 2007 after their former projects disbanded. They formed “On Hallowed Ground” until the band decided to part ways with their singer and rhythm guitarist. In the spring of 2008, recently returning vocalist of past Poughkeepsie power house “Bless The Fallen”, Danny Sheehan was contacted by Pat, Greg and Mike to come and jam as well as long time friend and lead guitarist of one of this area’s most renowned metal-core act “She Heard Silence”, Ed Farfan. They shortly after began writing to get a feel for what IBTH would become. After recording their first EP, set to be released this year, the band took a crushing blow with the departure of Danny. Shortly after, they held tryouts for a new front man to fill the position. They were not disappointed when they picked up their new head man, Pietro Vitiritti of Wappingers Falls, in the Fall of 2009. As of that point in time, the band has been preparing and writing, so be on the lookout for their comeback this winter!!
