icbrkr's Interests
General
My interests wildy vary. Today I'm interested in: Music (play the B3 a bit), road geekery, traveling, classic video games and computers, biking (without a motor dammit), driving insane distances and web page design.
Music
Mostly britpop and other odd music for an American. Good stuff = Charlatans, Ned's Atomic Dustbin (welcome back!), Fountains of Wayne, Kasabian (okay.. somewhat on the radio), Ride, Death Cab, The Bravery, Voyager One, Starsailor, The Killers, Manic Street Preachers... heck, you can get a good idea by checking out my Audioscrobbler page: LastFM Page
Movies
3 types - either stupidly lame movies (American Pie, Harold and Kumar).. or profoundly brilliant movies. Oh yeah, 3 things.. umm.. action movies are cool. If it's animated, it's doubly cool.
Television
I don't watch much really.. South Park, CSI.. and anything on the Discovery Channel. I thought learning was boring? What happened?
Books
Mostly magazines :) Retro Gamer, MAD Magazine, Mac World, Wired, Mac Addict and stuff. Do you see a theme? Geek mags!
About me:
I'm a brown haired (when not dyed) blue eyed dude who was transplanted from Northern California to Arkansas. Of course, it was "da man" that brought me here - ermm... the big "W" as you might say.
I'm a stupidly huge, non nerdy (but slightly geeky) video game and classic computer collector. Slightly obsessive, but yet, oddly normal at the same time. I've been called loud and obnoxious at work, but yet, underneath it all I have a squishy center. I've been married for 11 years .. to the same person even. Luckily, unlike a lot of people, our interests are mostly the same which prevents a lot of disagreements.
I'm a computer guy - I work as a Systems Admin for a large company based in NW Arkansas that starts with "W". I'll bet you can figure it out.
I've got some presence on the web.. anything from the website:
http://www.particles.org
to my normal hangouts on IRC (IceB-[B]).
Who I'd like to meet: Rob Collins and Tony Rogers. Sadly, I won't get the chance with Rob as he was killed in a car wreck in 1996. What do both have in common? Both are brilliant Hammond players. I'd love them to show me a few things.
JUST WANTED TO STOP BY AND SAY HI AND LET YOU KNOW THAT I HAVE TWO NEW SONGS ON MY PROFILE. NEITHER WERE PROFESSIONALLY RECORDED BUT ARE TWO SONGS I LOVE AND WON'T BE ABLE TO DEMO IN NASHVILLE IN A FEW WEEKS.....I WILL HAVE 6 OTHER SONGS ON HERE AFTER WE GET BACK. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THE SONGS AND HAVE A GREAT MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. YOUR FRIEND, MEAGAN
WOW~ I just read the comment from Sothy! Bag 'em and put 'em on ice, eh? That's just craziness! I guess putting them in a movie like Milo and Otis keeps them warm and alive for a day longer... 0_o
Oh, and Sothy, it's just weird that you would know that little tidbit of Alaskan trivia. Well, then again... You're friends with icbrkr...
I just came by to scream random obscenities at you then leave but I read the chicks comment below me, please inform her that to this day the standard method of stray and feral animal control in Alaska by their animal control officers is to round a bunch of em up put em in a bag and toss into a hole in the ice.
Speaking of bad movies... Andy put in Milo and Otis the other day...I have never seen this movie but he said that when he watched it as a child, it was cute. Um... they put a kitten in a wooden box and sent it off down the river. Then watched it as it went over a water fall... yeahhh... PETA would have had a field day back in '86 when the movie was made. :)
