Born in Gaborone, Botswana, Ketshidile Tiro Matale aka Stone moved to NYC in the winter of 2000. While promoting shows back in Miami, he understood what one of his favorite artists Fela Kuti touched on when stating that "Music is the weapon of the future." To understand the power of music for change was his impetus to get behind the decks. For this reason, some of is favorite gigs have been the opening of the South African Film Festival at the Schomburg Center in Harlem, The 2004 Tribeca Film Festival at The Winter Garden, and a benefit for workers' rights in City Hall.
Stone's uplifting blend of african, world beat, hip-hop, reggae, house, and jazz has been heard in popular Manhattan and Brooklyn venues such as Mercury Lounge, Solas, Sputnik, Moe's,Zebulon, and Bembe. You can hear him every Thursday night at Kif 219 dekalb, Brooklyn. He also enjoys playing for artists at gallery openings and special events. He was featured @ ICP's Snap Judgements Exhibition, which featured a new wave of African photographers.
He's also worked with ndbc, blessing the audience with well selected world tunes. Once opening for the screening of the twelve disciple of Nelson Mandela. Also before World famous Chuck D of Public Enemy gave a lecture.
Mocada also hired him to spin at their exhibition Talking with Pictures.
