False promises of gold paved streets and glittering city careers saw the four members of Ice Station Zebra congregate in Crouch End, North London in 2005.
After vainly auditioning and rejecting several female bass players, reality
beckoned for long time friends Steve Watson, James May and Michael Cockings in the form of occasional cohort Neil Green. He wasn’t curvy in the right places and his guitar wasn’t bigger than him, but he could play.
Pitched somewhere between the primal pulse of Neil Young and the
shimmering atmospherics of Pink Floyd, Ice Station Zebra perform songs
about things they haven't got and stuff they don’t need.
Lyrically they buy, beg, borrow and steal from anything and everything
including spiritual philosophy, scientific theory, political persuasions,
literary leavens and experiences with disillusionment, dreams, drink
and girls (not necessarily in that order).
The Summer of 2006 saw the band win the XFM unsigned bands
competition and go on to play the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park.
Alas, an offshoot business in selling bottled sweat didn’t take off.
After an enforced break in 2007, the band recorded and released a
debut album, Panopticon, in 2008.
The band is now gigging material from their 2009 One Man War EP
and looking forward to recording new material later in the year.

As a friend of Killaflaw we'd like to give you the opportunity of purchasing our uniquely numbered, limited edition CD single 'Revolution' which also includes the much loved 'Holy Fuck' on the B side.
There are only 1000 copies in existence and further copies will be sold without these unique numbers, so here is your chance to own a piece of music history from the LIPA award winning band dubbed by Eddy dance/rock guru Temple-Morris "the missing link between Soundgarden and The Prodigy"
The record is of course also available to buy as MP3 download.
To get your copy go to the following link:
