The band was originally born under the name Exense in 2005 however, in 2008 Nex the singer, songwriter and creator of the band, decided to rename the band officially to Icon X.. Since the beginning the band has always had a peculiar style, never quite fitting into a specific genre of music. Icon X has always been a blend of modern pop/rock, laced with 80’s/90’s electronic and new wave sounds, carried by warm and deep vocals. Catchy chorus and dance beats are the headlights of their music. All the while nostalgia and deep meaning to the lyrics provide the right backdrop for the band's music... The fusion of all these genres of music led the band in defining a new genre, “Fashion Rock”, to emphasis this new modern sound... Both the style and the image captured the attention, in 2005, of the Canadian Art and Culture minister, Christine Lenze, who invited the band for a 2 month tour throughout south-east Canada, playing in cities like Toronto, Winnipeg and Halifax… During the tour the band appeared as a guest on some of the most important national music and information TV and radio channels such as Match Music, CNN and CBC….. After the tour, due to a huge request, the band was invited again for a summer tour in the year 2006... Once back in home, Icon X continued touring through the north central part of Italy... During 2006 Nex began to work as a singer, author and composer for Blisscorporation, the main Italian music label in Turin, where he decided to take a break from his band and dedicate himself to this new experience. He took this opportunity to improve his technical skills and was able to work with numerous great artists including: Gabry Ponte (Universal Italy), Karmah (Universal Germany), Dari (EMI), Amotivo (Fondazione Sonora), and Retrosexual (Movimental)... He gained further experience outside the studio with: Orchestral (Jay Record/Warner), Dj Jacopo Galeazzi (Hitland) and Vicio (Subsonica), Maurizio Lobina (Eifel 65).. In the 2008 he made the decision to leave the studio and return to focusing himself only on Icon X. With his new gained experience he began composing new material for the project and started thinking about recording an Ep Called Psycho Party... The new tracks captured the attention of the American producer Mark Saunders (Shiny Toy Guns, The Cure, Depeche Mode, A-Ha, etc.) who decided to master the album while the mix was being done by the joint effort of Nex and Federico Malandrino (Dari, Karmah, Gabry Ponte, The Mainstream, Dramalove…)... The Ep includes an English tracklist along with an Italian one, because the band decided to compose their first songs in both languages... Icon X uses the internet as a way to increase their following via Myspace and Facebook, which have both helped them a lot. After almost one year after the opening of their official Myspace page, the band has more than 20 official fan clubs all over the world, along with some forums and some support pages... At the moment Icon X is working with a couple of promoters in both Europe and in The United States, who help with the organization of tours and promote them through various magazines, webzines, radio stations and television stations... To date the band has more than 30 songs composed and they are currently in contact with many producers for the recording of an album. Some of the main producers are: Brian Virtue ( 30 Seconds to Mars, Chevelle…) Davey Julson Rieley (Kill Hannah, Elvis Costello, Billy Corgan…) Mark Saunders ( Shiny Toy Guns, The Cure, Depeche Mode, A-Ha…)... Currently the band is preparing to shoot a music video for the upcoming single that will be shot sometime during the next months. .. To be continued…....
