I, Crime members Jennie and Anderson came together through a shared propensity for drunken bicycling, and began I, Crime in late 2004.
I, Crime is a rock group consisting of Jennie Knaggs (vocals, guitar, accordion), Anderson Walworth (vocals, guitar, bass) and Charlie McCutcheon (drums, vocals) and newly added Mike Ventimiglia (Bass, Keyboards) and they make their home in Detroit, Michigan. Beyond their stick twirling and alcoholic flair, I, Crime truly is a band of songwriters. Creating songs from influences as estranged and arresting as traditional olde-time, power-pop, psyche-punk, honky-tonk, ’50s crooning and high-strung, straight-up rock ‘n’ roll.
Their new brand of romantic rock will blow your ears with harsh punk urgency and your mind with excruciatingly gorgeous boy-girl harmonies, and then invite you over after the show for spiked tea and impromptu singalongs. They’ll let you crash on their couch, and even pour you a bowl of cereal in the morning.
Their song, “It Ain’t Right,” reached 1 on Brown Student Radio in Providence, RI, which called their sound “Black Sabbath meets the Marvelettes.”
I, Crime has shared the stage with talent such as Awesome Color (Ecstatic Peace!), Immaculate Machine (Mint Records), Party Line (x Bratmobile), among others.
I, Crime has been touring the USA in support of their five-song EP, “Get the Knife” released last February, and it’s guaranteed to piss you off, turn you on and make you cry – everything that makes music worth listening to. They are currently in the studio recording a full length LP to be released this spring. Stay tuned...
"They're fuzzy enough to get next to, but then you realize that that fuzz might be fiberglass insulation. Either way, they'll help you compulsively scratch the itch with boy-girl harmonies, bittersweet stories and a hang-loose rock swing that are part-bubblegum, part L.A.-punk circa 1977."
-Detroit Metro Times
"Intelligent and introspective, Detroit’s I, Crime sound like a band a friend from a place like Chicago or Austin would hip you to and you’d instantly fall in love with. With their cool, scuffed up indie rock and dual male/female vocals, why I, Crime maintain such a low profile at home remains a mystery."
- KND Real Detroit Weekly
"A diverse and emotional band from the depths of D Town...The beautiful and abstract nature of I, Crime is ideal chill music, and a nice break from the contrived heartbreak and constant bitching that gives the genre a bad name."
-Aaron Rajala - Real Detroit Weekly
"...a gorgeous mess of country-tinged harmonies and shouted, Velvet Underground-inspired rocking. Not unlike groups such as The Raveonettes and X, the sounds of I, Crime are a sweet-and- sour stew of garage guitars and pop vocals...Their combination of bleeding hearts, fem-rock sensibility and just enough catchiness will surely give them wider appeal."
-Dennis Fallon, Centre Daily Times, State College, PA

I like, how, you have a comma, in your band name. And, a while ago, you clearly stated, "Milwaukee is for springtime." It is currently springtime here, in, Milwaukee.
