March 2007 was the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery and the trigger for a series of arts and history projects throughout East Renfrewshire, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
This album is part of that work.
The performers were given the brief to submit material which, in one way or another, sought to explore emotions and ideas associated with the concepts of freedom, self-expression and personal identity.
All of these original compositions represent the views of the participating artists and we hope that the songs will provide some food for thought.
