You know those bars you go to that bill themselves as "the best lounge room in the world"? Then when you get there it's nothing more than a few guys sitting round a makeshift bar, swilling VB while a group of musos thrash out some unrecognisable style of music on a stage at the end of the room and it gets you thinking, "Man, I wish I'd stayed at Uni." Ring a bell? The good news is, Idgaff is not one of those bars.

Bang on Hoddle St, Idgaff is the proverbial lounge room away from home. Packed with sofas, chairs and more seating than pretentions, it's easy to see why this newbie to Melbourne's bar culture is attracting a regular crowd of music loving devotees. Each night you'll find live bands or solo artists seducing the ears of patrons and playing into the wee hours. Hosting an array of events, from album launches to themed music nights, and covering a huge variety of genres - reggae, blues, rock, pop, roots, ‘80s - this bar can't help but pull a constant crowd of music lovers.

Sure, there are plenty of other music venues in Melbourne. Some of them even boast the "best sound system in Melbourne" and coincidentally charge the highest cover charge in Melbourne to pay for said sound system. Idgaff puts all these pretensions aside and simply offers good music, a cold beer and a comfy chair. Just like your lounge room, only way better.
