IDIT ESHEL – BIOGRAPHY
Singer-songwriter.
Israel.
My love for music was inspired by my mother, who was a classical choir singer for 30 yrs. there was always classical music, gospels, folk music and choir concerts playing at home.
My debut album – "Idit Eshel" – was released in 2004 under the label "Anana" and distributed by "Hed Arzi" record company. The acoustic – Folk - World sound of the album is based on a rhythm section of African & Mid-Eastern percussion, frame drums, and vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, accordion & contrabass.
I was trained as a vocalist by several teachers in the years 1987-1993.
Throughout the years I also learned Frame Drums with Asaf Zamir, and Zohar Presco, Arabic Singing with the Oud player Michael Marune, and Song Writing with Roni Someck, Dan Toren, and Meir Goldberg.
the best school I ever had was up on stage, singing, performing in front of a live audience. In 1989 I joined my first band and from then for a period of almost 10 yrs, I had performed with several kinds of bands, various repertoires in Jazz, Blues and Rock. Mean while, started developing my own personal style writing and composing songs.
In 1998 I assembled a band and began touring and performing my songs, while seeking, writing and recording with many different musicians.
Amongst my performances were concerts in different festivals, including "Woman's Festival 2000" and "2006", and a concert in Wroclaw, Poland, May 2006.
Apart from that I've been teaching and coaching voice and performance, and producing singing in the recording studio with singers & actors for the last 14 yrs.
In 2002, the director Nava Zukerman invited me to work with her and the ensemble of "Tmuna Theater", a fascinating work in the Theater world. I took part in the creation of the music for the play "Hashita"(the system), in which I sing, play and act.
I also take part in "Tribal Dance" – an upcoming band in the "organic party" scene, playing live music with 2 sets of drums-percussion, Dijiridoo & singing.
Nowadays I'm working on my next album.
