Go to "songsoftheday.synthasite.com" to hear a new song, picked by me every weekday!
I don't really listen to the radio... so most likely I have no idea what's popular at the moment unless I randomly hear it elsewhere.
I mostly listen to 60's/70's/80's/90's/Modern Pop/Rock/Hard Rock, World Music and Classical/Easy Listening... you could say I have very eclectic tastes that surprisingly include a lot of mainstream stuff:
ABBA / Benny Andersson / Agnetha Fältskog / Anni-frid (Frida) Lyngstad / Björn Ulvaeus ; Fleetwood Mac / Stevie Nicks / Christine McVie / Lindsey Buckingham / Rick Vito ; The Bee Gees / Barry Gibb / Andy Gibb ; Roxette / Per Gessle / Marie Fredriksson ; Heart / Ann & Nancy Wilson ; Porcupine Tree / Steven Wilson ; Jefferson Starship / Grace Slick / Mickey Thomas ; Genesis / Phil Collins / Tony Banks ; Chicago / Peter Cetera ; Journey / Steve Perry ; Foreigner ; Lisa Dalbello (one of the most incredibly under-appreciated singer/songwriters) ; Sissel Kyrkjebø (the most beautiful voice EVER!) ; Michael Jackson ; Twelve Girls Band ; Toto ; Kirsty MacColl ; Juliane Werding ; Natacha Atlas ; Amina Annabi ; Mario Frangoulis ; Andrea Bocelli ; The Carpenters ; The 5th Dimension ; Tina Turner ; Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 ; Dionne Warwick / Burt Bacharach songs ; Percy Faith's arrangements & compositions ; Henry Mancini movie themes ; Swing Out Sister ; Acoustic Alchemy ; Alannah Myles ; A-ha ; Pat Benatar ; Seal ; Sheryl Crow ; Anna Vissi ; The Corrs ; Delerium / Conjure One ; Secret Garden ; David Arkenstone ; Danny Elfman movie themes ; Olivia Newton-John ; Sheena Easton ; Kim Carnes ; Jane Child ; Belinda Carlisle ; Marque ; Espen Lind ; Garmarna ; Väsen ; Hoven Droven ; Azam Ali ; Santana's first 3 albums ; Spock's Beard ; E.L.O. / Jeff Lynne ; Ambrosia ; England Dan & John Ford Coley ; The Alan Parsons Project ; Dan Fogelberg ; Firefall ; The Association ; The Grass Roots ; Sophie Ellis-Bextor ; Kylie Minogue / Dannii Minogue ; Celine Dion ; Sting / The Police's hits ; Bobby Darrin's "More" ; Jordi Savall / Le Concert Des Nations ; Mediaeval Baebes ; Yo-Yo Ma ; Joshua Bell ; Angèle Dubeau & La Pietà ; Apocalyptica's Metallica covers ; James Galway ; Mike Oldfield ; John Williams movie themes ; J.S. Bach ; P.I. Tchaikovsky ; G.F. Handel ; W.A. Mozart ; Beethoven ; Boccherini ; Vivaldi ; Schubert ; Debussy ; Mussorgsky ; Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade" ; Holst's "The Planets" ; and lots & lots of others!
But really.. nothing could ever beat this classic:
Movies
Comedies, Horror, Adventure, Drama and Sci-Fi... I'm not too picky as long as it entertains me, makes me think, or takes me to another place for a couple hours.
When you're bored around the holidays, just make a horror movie!
Television
House, The Sopranos, The Simpsons, Star Trek: The Next Generation, The X-Files, Monk, I Love Lucy, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, The History Channel (particularly shows like The Universe series)... I recently discovered Leverage on TNT, which is actually a really fun show. Oh and Judge Judy is always entertaining (I can't believe I'm publicly admitting I watch it...)
Other shows I've followed (but not necessarily a huge fan of):
Life On Mars (US version), Smallville, Supernatural, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Heroes, Psych, and I still haven't gotten over the fact they canceled Journeyman (ugh!).
From an old high school class project...
Books
I don't really read novels... which I hate to admit, but just never could get myself into intense reading. I've always preferred writing, if it's for recreation or creativity. As far as reading goes, I prefer things short and to the point like articles, news blurbs, short stories, and that kind of thing.
Heroes
Everyone who has the strength to keep going when they're dealt all the blows life deals us... while retaining a positive attitude and outlook. So many ordinary people go around in this world doing extraordinary things, and few really take notice. So I guess I'd say I have a lot of heroes out there!
Hey... Thanks for checking out my little corner of cyberspace. But if you don't say hi, how will I ever know you were even here?
Ya' know... these days, I often find myself thinking that...
My ideal car...
My ideal pet...
Who I'd like to meet: Check out my fan site for the Canadian singer/songwriter Lisa Dalbello...
(if link doesn't work, just type dalbello.4x2.net into your web browser)
Also, if you're into exposing yourself to different kinds of music or stuff you may have never heard before, check out this site which I created... I post a new song each weekday at songsoftheday.synthasite.com.
Just remember... if you like something you hear there, please go buy it!
But if you're just into exposing yourself... I'm sure there are plenty of other sites online that can help you instead. ;p
Thank you Jeff for the great video and song, I sent out a bulletin with it! Now this is another rare musical video, my friend Patti Quatro and I run her fanpage together, and they posted this video yesterday on their Pleasure Seeker / Cradle myspace page!
Patti is on guitar on the right, Suzi is singing and sister Arlene is on keyboards! Their friends make up the rest of the band! Patti founded one of the first (in 1964), all womens bands and this is them on a Seattle tv show!
I hope you get a kick out of it! I was 12 then!! LOL!!!
Happy Birthday Jeffrey!!!! I hope you enjoyed the videos of Lisa at the Diamond Club as much as I did!!! Wow is all I can say!! And after getting a partial dvd of the 1985 Rockpalast show, I found someone who has the whole thing on tape and is making a dvd for me!
