IdleRed (n)
1. An infinite balance represented by a state of coherence and complete chaos
2. Rock band from Phoenix, AZ.
Like the mythological bird their hometown is named after (Phoenix, AZ), Idle Red has risen once again from its ashes, this time with more power and conviction than ever before! Formed by original member Steve Ayotte (lead vocals), Idle Red is a four-piece rock group that has undergone many changes since its inception in the summer of 2004. The greatest change coming from the new life and maturity Idle Red found with the additions of Rob Elizondo (guitar), Tyler Alcorn (drums), and Taylor Ouellette (bass) in 2007.
"I owe a lot of how the band has progressed to the guys around me. Taylor, Rob, and Tyler bring so much to the table!” says singer Steve Ayotte. “The music we're writing now and the messages we try to get out there are so far beyond where the band was just a few years ago. These guys have helped finally make Idle Red complete!”
Over the past few years, Idle Red has gone from playing for their friends in garages & back yards to staring on a national television show (FUSE TVs Bodog Battle Of The Bands: Summer 2007), opening up for bands like LIT, Story Of The Year, My Chemical Romance, and Flogging Molly, and playing legendary venues like the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
"It's true we have all been through our fair share of turbulence," says guitarist Rob Elizondo. "But I think I speak for us all in saying that our strong belief in music and open minded attitudes have brought us a long way from where we first started! Individually we were ready to take the next step in our career but we couldnt do it alone. Because of the amazing chemistry between all of us now in Idle Red we finally have the ability to do so as a group. We're not just rolling the dice anymore!"
Now with 2008's "FROM THESE ASHES WE RISE" ep and a BRAND NEW FULL LENGTH CD for 2009 called "IF LOOKS COULD KILL" under their belts, Idle Red pushes towards the next level in their musical careers. Taking influences from bands like Incubus, Rise Against, Foo Fighters, Finch and Thrice, Idle Red's songs mix powerful messages with raw yet intricate musical pieces. Some say they fit in with today's mainstream but Idle Red still prides themselves on their original sound that is as diverse as it is distinct.
