About me:
http://www.MySpace.com/HungryArtistDVDMedia My name is Gabriella Bregman, I wrote and directed a digital feature "Short Day", (DVD at http://www.IndieFlix.com), a meditation on the trappings of compromise, part of a trilogy "Scenes of Idolatry and Resentment", chronicling an artist's creative process and the interaction with a rival. "Short Day"'s interior stream of consciousness is part anxiety attack, part reluctant confession, of unfulfilled longings for love, respect and peace of mind, of a writer caught up in the consequences of a love triangle. The narrative "Short Day" is as complete internally as "Scenes" or "Idolatry", the script trilogy "Scenes of Idolatry and Resentment" itself recorded to the non-linear time development of the mind as honestly as possible, revealing more and so differently than the sum of its' parts an awareness emerging. Producer Fred Caruso, (Schlesinger's "Midnight Cowboy", Lumet's "Network", Leone's "Once Upon a Time in America", Cassavetes' production manager, "Husbands"), whom I met in '01 at a John Cassavetes Retrospective I produced in Los Angeles, wrote me: "I read with great pleasure the treatment and long version of "Scenes". Your characters and story line are deep and engaging. I like it." http://www.HungryArtistDVDMedia.com HungryArtistDVDMedia.com: A Film Site for Entrepreneurial Filmmakers; "Independence is not dictated by conformity to security, nor driven by rebellion against conformity, but clarity which is vision."Who I'd like to meet:

Writing. Learning More and Faster on How to Become Completely Self-Sufficient, Independent, Free!?! http://www.MySpace.com/HungryArtistDVDMedia Currently Producing Short Film "THE ARTIST"S ROLE", (based on essay "THE ARTIST'S ROLE AND THE PURPOSE OF SELF-PRODUCTION") The idea for "Scenes" grew very organically, very slowly, the final script as it was finished by the end of '04 incorporating a lot of the narrative treatment into a different structure altogether. I'd wanted to shoot with few characters in one or three acts, simple sets. Then I abandoned filmmaking for a time to write a sort of lyrical, spiral-like novel, but with not enough experience I started living first. I wrote a 2 page treatment, becoming the blueprint for a script called "Idolatry" in '97, and by 2000 "Scenes" began. From thereon all attempts were made to get "Scenes" shot, until it finally had to make way for a new perspective in '05 with "Short Day"; a one character narrative filmed on another digital camera, and "performed" in a singular, dark location, one continuous, unedited scene, roughly 80 minutes in length. Out of "Sportsmans Films" under which heading the John Cassavetes retrospective was produced an idea sprang forth for a film site "Hungry Artist DVD Media" to put my creative endeavors in perspective for myself, and for what turned into the trilogy DV project, "SCENES OF IDOLATRY AND RESENTMENT". http://www.HungryArtistDVDMedia.comMusic

http://www.MySpace.com/HungryArtistDVDMedia JOHN CASSAVETES; "PEOPLE KILL THEMSELVES BECAUSE OF SOCIETY'S INABILITY TO EDUCATE, IN TERMS OF LOVE ANY FURTHER THAN A GIVEN POINT. NOBODY IN THIS WORLD SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO LOVE BEYOND A CERTAIN POINT, THEN THEY BECOME EMOTIONALLY TIRED OF IT, OR BORED OR HURT. THEY CHANGE, AND THEIR LOVE DOESN'T TRANSCEND CERTAIN OBSTACLES. FOR SOMEBODY WHO IS VERY SENSITIVE AND IDEALISTIC, AS WE ALL START OUT TO BE, IT BECOMES A DRAMATIC EXPERIENCE. YOU CAN EITHER MAKE THAT BRIDGE OR NOT AND WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THIS PICTURE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE POSSIBLY LOST, AND TRY TO POINT OUT THE REASONS FOR IT."
