"Out Seeing The Fields" by singer/songwriter Dawud Wharnsby is an intimate collection of songs underscored by acoustic guitar and the intricate piano work of US based composer Idris Phillips. Wharnsby's poetry and voice are in the foreground as usual, with subject matter addressing child abuse, honesty of faith, quest for identity, spiritual growth, and love. Other elements include a tribute to peace activist Rachel Corrie and a semi-autobiographic look at balancing faith with the egocentric music industry.

He thinks in melodies and wakes from bed each day to sit at his piano and compose - even before morning coffee.
A talented guitarist, pianist, writer and producer, Idris Phillips began playing classical guitar before the age of 10. As a traveler and performer, Idris toured extensively for many years of his life as both a solo performer and member of countless Jazz, Rock and Blues ensembles. Idris is the quality of man and artist who stands out alone and above others, for his graciousness, concern for humanity and dedication to music that hits the very heart of listeners.
These days, though he resides amid the vibrant Nashville music scene, behind his eyes still smiles the 8 year old boy who simply loves to play music and desires for nothing more than to share good melodies with others.
The compositions of Idris Phillips are mosaics - colours of sound placed together with care, craft and attention to detail, revealing a finished song that speaks to the very core of the "human experience". His use of Asian and Middle Eastern rhythms set against Jazz, Folk, and R&B arrangements, ensures his material holds a universal appeal. His piano sparkles, his guitar work breathes and his voice soothes. Inspirations for Idris' work come from life experiences on the road, relationships, and more recently from his studies of Islamic Spirituality.
Achieving internationally recognition with his music in 2006, Idris has performed in Malaysia and now frequently performs in the United Kingdom, touring regularly with singer/songwriters Dawud Wharnsby (as supportive pianist/guitarist) and Zain Bhikha (as supportive percussionist). In 2007 he produced and arranged Dawud's CD "Out Seeing The Fields" - with more collaborative and solo work already in production for 2010.
