Bringing together some of the most innovative, exceptional & contemporary musicians in the North, 'If Destroyed Still True' is led by Tommy Evans on drums & features 'Parliamentary Jazz Award' winner Nick Tyson on guitar, Simon Kaylor on sax, Simon Beddoe on Trumpet / Flugel, Johnny Tomlinson on piano and Seth Bennett on Double Bass. Whilst drawing upon influences from Avishai Cohen to Perfect Houseplants IDST have developed a truly orchestral style whilst retaining a focus on improvisation & musical communication. This has resulted in a coming together of jazz & folk in an idiosyncratically English fashion - sweeping melodies, unusual harmonic progression & complex rhythm keeping. IDST are gaining a large following which is set to grow even larger as the group have recently won the Jazz Services 'promoters' Choice' Award 2008 which has secured a showcase performance at this years' London Jazz Festival as well as a nationwide tour in 2009. The group have recently finished recording their debut album which is available now and are now taking bookings for the 2009 festival season.. tracks from the album will be up here soon.
