Ifdakar's pursuit of musical growth makes each performance an experience not to be forgotten. This band channels elements of psychedelic rock, blues, and mind-bending space funk. Formed in the fall of '07 and hailing from Appleton, Wisconsin, the band draws from such influences as Phish, Pink Floyd and STS9, leaving their tapestry vast and unbound. From songs that are tragic, to songs that transcend, Ifdakar showcases an array of ambient sounds and textures. The band is known for its improvisational jamming and elaborately structured pieces. These two ends of the spectrum allow dense musical freedom, to tension-and-release madness. After a performance in November of '08 gbnightlife.com called Ifdakar, '...the current status of funk in Wisconsin...I found their blend of funk, blues and electronica refreshing."
In 2008, the band played about 50 shows in and around their home state. Some of those experiences included; Steel Bridge Songefest in Sturgeon Bay, WI, Feel Good Festival in Amherst, WI, the Rave in Milwaukee, WI, Fall Roots and Grass Festival in Black River Falls, WI, and Hempfest in Madison, WI. 2009 looks to be an even busier year as the band reaches further into the jamband circuit; traveling to new places and meeting new people.
Ifdakar's reputation continues to grow positively after each performance. From the intimate audience connections that stir, to the dark and spacey jams that take hold, Ifdakar is about musical dialogue between each other, and their growing audience.
