Independent Film Festival of Boston's Blurbs |
About me:
IFFBoston aims to put Boston back on the map for independent film. Check out our website www.iffboston.org for details about how to enter your film for consideration.
In 2002, two guys sat around their office saying, "We should start a film festival." The idea was to create a festival that would showcase the best independent films from around the world—a festival that would bring directors, actors, producers, sponsors, and attendees together in an interactive environment. There are other film festivals in Boston, but there wasn't an accessible, independent film festival inclusive of everything that created a full film-festival experience.
The success of IFFBoston can be attributed to the hard-working, passionate dedication of its completely volunteer, year-round staff and the loyal support of our 100+ festival volunteers, sponsors, venues, and our community. The festival continues to thrive largely due to an enthusiastic audience who, like ourselves, has waited and wanted an event like this for a long time . We are proud to be a part of such an awesome community.
To meet the demands of our growing audience, IFFBoston expanded its running time from four to six days. The festival in 2007 featured more than 80 films and 125 screenings over its six day run and played host to over 23,000 attendees. Venues included the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square; the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square; and the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline. Special discussion panels and instructional workshops were also held at the Jimmy Tingle Theater in Davis Square.
