I FURIOSI Baroque Ensemble is one of world's most innovative Baroque ensemble, comprised of four of Canada's leading early music specialists: soprano Gabrielle McLaughlin, violinists Aisslinn Nosky and Julia Wedman, and cellist/gambist Felix Deak. These four daring musicians bring their skill and expertise to this edgy new voice in the early music world. For almost a decade, I FURIOSI's Toronto concert series has been revitalizing the face of early music in Canada, inspired by the practice of the Baroque era while invoking the "bizarre and unnatural" aesthetic both cherished and despised in its time. Intelligent and inspired programming in addition to a captivating performance style has garnered this group a reputation as a revolutionary force in the Canadian and international early music scene. In addition to their Toronto concert series, in the 2007-2008 season will see I FURIOSI engaged at prestigious festivals in Canada, the US and abroad. I FURIOSI's debut CD Defiled is my (Middle) Name (2005) continues to gain international recognition and acclaim.
OMG I wouldn't think you guys would actually respond lol You are cool!!!
I enjoy watching foreign films, american films have to much crap in them, and if you notice they all have a car chase scene lol
Well, I was born in raise in LOS ANGELES!!! I am currently living in the bay area though. I moved up here to study with world renown cellist Irene Sharp!! She is awesome. I told her that my dream is to become a baroque cellist and possibly record the vivaldi cello sonatas. She then said "Thats good but you will still have to learn the regular cello literature, we will talk more about baroque stuff ones you've done Dvorak Concerto and Haydn D major" At the moment I am playing Dance of the Elves (playing it tomorrow) by popper and Elgars' cello concerto. Hey, do you guys participate in the Tafelmusik music camp?? Do you work as instructors? I would love to hear some Porpora from you guys!
Thank you so much for your sweet welcome :) The pleasure is mine!! I love your work it's so alive and so poweful!! Warmest wishes for a wonderful 2009 :) Tanith x
