Igmar captures the timelessness of jazz and the swagger of hip-hop through his visionary music. This San Diego native is an accomplished and highly skilled trumpeter, composer, arranger, and bandleader. He picked up the trumpet at 12 and immediately displayed innate talent and discipline. Igmar began defining his own style as he played alongside legends such as Lionel Hampton, Clark Terry, Al Grey, Roy Hargrove, Jon Faddis, Ralph Peterson, and Terri Lynne Carrington, Beres Hammond, AG (from Showbiz n AG, DITC). In 2006 he graduated from Berklee College of Music where he studied on a full scholarship. While attending school in Boston he met many of the players that currently make up his sextet, Igmar Thomas & The Cypher. Now based in New York City where Igmar performs regularly with The Cypher and also is a highly recommended player for major acts. Igmar opened for acts like Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Heiroglyphics, Collie Buddz, Roy Hargrove & GURU, Mos Def, and also recorded with Wyclef Jean, John Legend, Jim Jones, Terence Howard, and many more.
