    James's Interests
GeneralFor my SaS friends: Well, I hate traveling. I like vounteering a lot. I like to read and write, explore the city in which I live, athletic stuff, and watch movies.
MusicThat song from the new James Bond movie is pretty awesome: "You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell.
MoviesMy favorite is Forrest Gump, or maybe Unstrung Heros. I'm geeking out over the Transformers movie that's coming out this summer.
BooksDean Koontz, and I need to expand my horizons. My diploma listing my degree in English is threatening to burst into flames. I read Jalopnik.com a lot, as well as The Truth About Cars and Positive Ape Index.
HeroesGeorge W. Bush. Nah, I just said that to piss off all the right people. Optimus Prime?

About me:
Oh Christ. You know, because of websites like this one, our generation is more adept at thinking and writing about ourselves than any that preceded us. There are two possible resulting outcomes: #1 By focusing inward, we've become especially self-aware, thereby allowing us to lead happier lives and make good choices. #2 We're a bunch of self-centered pricks who like to concentrate on how uniquely great we are, and worse yet, let everybody else know, too. Of course, there may be a middle ground, and if so, I'd like to think I'm on it and leaning toward #1 (... which I think reveals that I am actually leaning toward #2). Thanks for reading!

I haven't written to Rosey in a while. I'm in Canada, entertaining the masses.

Oddly enough, I wanted to write about what I am having for lunch today. I made some really lame turkey burgers last night, and I heated them up in a microwave that belongs to the Tribica Film Festival, whom I have no association with. I had two - one on a whole wheat role, and one by itself. It was not very good. It tastes like a bad meatloaf sandwhich. With that out of the way, I am now feasting on a large container of heated mixed vegetables. They have a hint of bizarro flavor to them, which indicates that something could be wrong with them. Another bite tells me they may be okay. They truly are "mixed." To wash it all down, I am drinking NYC tap water, even though bottled is available to me. No dessert. All in all, a very poor quality lunch, but high on the healthy scale and also I always remember to appreciate just having food to eat. I don't take that for granted.

The other piece of advice my friend gave me was this: One time I was being hard on myself and my creative work. I said to my friend, "I shouldn't be so hard on myself." He said, "No, you SHOULD because no one else is going to be as hard on you as you are on yourself."

I was reading some of the comments on the Semester at Sea page and enjoying them, especially the one about making the most of things. Years ago I was criticized for spending a lot of my money on a creative project and I felt down about it. I mentioned this to a friend of mine, and he said, "Well, what are you going to spend your money on? Hookers?" I always remembered that. It's in the same vein as "you can't take it with you." My friend gave me another good piece of advice, and I'll post that tomorrow.

Good morning, James. I like it here on your space. It feels safe. Myspace is a dangerous place, you know. I see you now have Semester at Sea here as well, and I'm jumping on the boat. I have requested them as a friend.

Well, currently I am one of two Myspace friends you have. It's me and Tom, and Tom doesn't even like you. He told me. See, we've talked quite a bit since we've both been trapped together as your only Myspace friends. Unlike other sites where there are cute girls, famous actors, and bands, on your site it's just me and Tom. We've read your profile, and we think it'll be the two of us for the long haul. It's the good thing we like each other... Well, not really. I don't like Tom. I'm not sure how he feels about me.
