I watch a lot of movies. Perhaps too many. I've seen too many recently to decide how much I like them. These are some of my favorites. Braveheart; Lawn Dogs; Empire Records; The Breakfast Club; Interview with the Vampire; The Princess Bride; the Woodstock movie; Mel Brooks' stuff; Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory; old-school Planet of the Apes (i even read the book); Hitchcock's stuff; The Adventures of Milo and Otis; nooma; Fido
Television
I don't watch tv anymore (practically) but this is what I did watch: Law & Order (the original); Star Trek the next generation; X-Files; Myth Busters; random stuff on PBS, Discovery Channel, and TLC; Thundercats; the old-school X-Men cartoon (best cartoon ever made); Family Guy; Highlander; Cowboy Bebop; Whose Line is it Anyway?; Bobby's World; Invader Zim; 12oz. Mouse; King of Queens
Books
any and everything by Don Miller, C. S. Lewis, and Rob Bell; tuesdays with morrie; used to like Anne Rice (interview with the vampire is still one of my favorite books); "Enter the Worship Circle" by Ben Pasley (freakin awesome); poet Saul Williams (his first book only "she"); Astonishing X-Men is pretty good, too. Right now I'm reading stuff by Dorothy Day.
Heroes
Beast, my friend Bill, talented and disciplined musicians, people who go places, people with good stories and good story-telling skills
About me: "I love because I want to love, the deepest desire of my heart is for love, for union, for communion, for community." -Dorothy Day
"and i yearn
for the strength and courage
to sucker punch moments
so that they may swell
and ripen blackened blue
like sweetest night" - saul williams
More and more these days I find myself living in the midst of those words. Different things push and pull me, and I'm hoping I'm responding with grace in an attempt to end up at love and truth. To be deeper in myself and others and God and life. To see goodness, and to be grateful for it.
I'm trying to be more impulsive. More creative (not just in my head, but with my hands). I'm done waiting.
To say I'm trying to find my way doesn't make sense. I want to respond fully, to live holistically. to move forward.
I love my family. I've got the two best sisters ever, whom I admire. I kind of suck at times at being a friend, but I'm working on that. I'm trying to be a better cook. I like to get used clothes as much as possible. I watch too many movies. I hate tv. I don't listen to music like I used to. I like the smell of wood. I like wool much more now than I used to, which I think means I'm getting older. I have too many wrinkles. I enjoy hiking quite a bit. It really makes me feel more alive. So do thunderstorms.
I'm in a band called holy!holy!holy! www.myspace.com/holyholyholysound We're a radical gypsy/americana extravaganza. I play guitar, djembe, banjo, and mandolin, and we're gonna be on tour this spring and summer.
This next year, I will be exploring and carving out many things. I hope it is exciting.
"We want to grow in love, but we do not know how." -Dorothy Day ____

Speaking of zombies, have you ever had discussions with coworkers about how you'd try and zombie-proof the workplace if an outbreak happened? lol I have.
I just wanted to say that I am quite pleased that you were born, Jason. It would make me very sad if you never were. Well ... actually... that doesn't make much sense... You see, if you were never born, then I never would've known you, which would make it near impossible for me to be sad by the lack of a Jason. Bah. At any rate, Happy Birthday!!!
Also, I'VE GOT HIGH SPEED INTERNET!!!! I feel like I've just now truly got the internet. haha
a few weeks ago jamie and i had the pleasure of being featured on matt loi's "local lounge" radio/web program in spokane, WA. here's one of the tracks we did:
