IHEARTCOMIX RECORDS loves pop punk, electronic and dance music. They are dedicated to releasing records by new and energetic artists that they feel are pushing music forward and igniting change. IHC RECORDS is also dedicated to challenging the music industry and paving its own path with how the business is done.
Began in 2005 as an extension of IHEARTCOMIX EVENTS, label owners FRANKI CHAN and TRAVIS HAYDEN decided that it was time to start putting out records of their own since they had already proven their ability to break artists and garner an audience through their years of throwing events. It seemed like the next logical step in building the IHEARTCOMIX empire and reaching kids throughout the world with their own, special take on the music underground. The search began and resulted in early signings of such bands as MATT & KIM, PROTOKOLL and THIS BLUSH.
About a year later, IHEARTCOMIX RECORDS released their first records, an EP by BOSTON based rock sensations, PROTOKOLL, and the debut full length of indie darlings, MATT & KIM. Both were met with critical and commercial success, with press appearing in SPIN, NYLON, URB, ROLLING STONE, ANTHEM, VENUS, NME, SOMA, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, THE VILLAGE VOICE and THE STRANGER to name a few. MATT & KIM’s video for their first single ‘YEA YEAH’ ended up airing on MTV2 and became an internet blog phenomenon. The band even hosted an episode of MTV2’s SUBTERRANEAN.
IHEARTCOMIX RECORDS plans to continue this initial success with future releases scheduled from HEARTSREVOLUTION, OCELOT, THE TOXIC AVENGER, ROXY COTTONTAIL, TOTALLY MICHAEL, DREAMBURGER, JUICEBOXXX,
ACID GIRLS and MATT & KIM.
First confronted IHEARTCOMIX at SXSW. Saw Boys Noize first night and got hit in the head by Franki's mix CD at Mad Decent during Matt&Kim another night. My heads been spinning ever since. You guys are amazing.
