I've been playing guitar since I was 15. I started writing music the following year before I even knew what writing music was all about. I taught myself guitar for about 3 years before my first lesson from Dan Mitchell, an amazing classical jazz guitarist who is the ultimate personification of "musician." Any skill I have today is because of him; NOT BECAUSE OF SELF TEACHING. In order to grow as a musicial you have to allow help and influence. I've gained much from musician friends like Jeff Rogers, Dylan Sneed, Kyle Fry, Michael "Happy Fat" Gilbert, Tony Barker and many others.
Since I was a wee lad music has been my favorite joy. I started playing shows in college at age 19 and played with my first serious drummer that same year. Since then I've experienced the breathless excitement of playing in front of a band and the fearfull comfort of a solo, acoustic show. I continue to write music now that I actually know what I'm doing (I think) and I'm always looking for more opportunities to show the world what I can do. Or at least Texas, for now.
