I was one of the 8 contestants on the hit show "The Pickup Artist" on VH1. It's a tale of transformation. Geeky guys who have social awkward'ness with talking to women. I had to over come my fear with approach and find the person I always was. And now with all the experience I have gained from being on TV and meeting some really wonderful people. I found myself. My name is Stephen Poon, but my friends call me Spoon.
Episode 2 from Vh1 The Pickup Artist
Here is a little clip from the show. This was after I won the make over challenge. My reward was a female practice partner (Tara) to practice openers with. I was a little nervous at first, but I got over it thanks to Tara and her comforting talent. She is a great gal and has a big heart. Watch her on Season 2 of The Pickup Artist.
Note: Most women don't know, but some guys are nervous with approaching women. I had a student who whenever he talked to a gal his voice would scratch. After we talked and a lot of understanding/coaching from me later that night in the club he talked to 20 sets of gals without scratching. And of course this is all thanks to my own personal Pickup Coach Jdog.
I would say I changed the most since the show. Lost a lot of weight, took my style in dressing to a whole new level, got a few tattoos and piercings and more importantly had some spiritual time with my good friend Brady Sprunger (also from the show) about spirituality and self. All of this has made me a stronger and more spiritual person. I use this new experience not to just flirt with women, but to give them the chance to get to know me. Then later they can fall for me. Haha ;)
Pop Art for myspace
My art isn't really anything special. It's whatever I enjoy looking at. Above is a gal named Ewelina. She's a sweet heart who lives in NY. Has a great sense in style and color so I decided to make her as one of my pieces. Now your probably thinking why I said for myspace? Well I like browsing from page to page looking at interesting pictures on myspace. If I think your stylish enough. I would consider making you one as well. I have more in my pop art album. I'm pretty picky.
My motorcycle - 1974 Honda CT90
I love vintage motorcycles. I'm all about riding in style. This is my Honda 1974 CT90 in Orange. It is a classic, 90cc 4-stroke with four-speed automatic clutch. I've always had a passion for motorcycles and scooters. Riding to me is like flying. Free from the world and thought. I'm usually laughing, and smiling as I ride. And for all the gals out there. It's a 2 seater. *wink* ;)
My son Toya (Siberian Husky):
This is my pup Toya. Most people think he's a girl, but he's a boy. He's 5 years old. I got him when he was about 6 months. Fattiest little puppy there. Pretty much everyone who knows me, knows Toya. I treat him as my son. I asked my family once if Toya was just a dog. They all replyed back he is our grandson. I'm very protective of him. Right now I'm trying to get him into commercials or even a movie. If you have a dog also. Feel free to leave me a message. We can go walking our dogs and talk about which dog is cuter.
My Tattoos
The tattoo was tattooed by Hannah from LA Ink. It's represents my change in my life. In kanji it says fly. Like flying in the air. And the design is a phoenix for rebirth. I was always the black sheep but now
I want to fly as high as everyone else. I was filmed, but wasn't selected to be aired. At least I got an amazing tattoo and story about it. It was around $400.00
Note: I recently just got another tattoo on my other arm. It's my for my puppy Toya. It say's in japanese Tooya and next to it "I will always protect you". It was one painful tattoo. I didn't show any expression of pain, but mentally I was screaming.
Graphic Design work for Movies/TV/More
Most people don't understand what I do till I describe it. I make generic labels for movies and commericals. For example if they were filming a office breakfast scene. You would need some cereal boxes or milk cartons. Well instead of paying thousands for copyright to use those product (which only appears for 3 seconds). I make a generic cereal box and a generic milk label. If you would like to see more examples of my work visit my Generic Label Album.
Handcrafted Dichroic Pendants:
When I'm not doing graphic work for movies I work at Saturday market at BoriginalsArtGlass owned by Brian Smith. He makes handcrafted dichroic glass pendants. He has been teaching me how to make them. It is much harder then it looks. We use a diamond bit cutter to craft his jewelry. Be sure to check more of them out in my photo album.
I like to cook:
I like to cook when I have the time. I like to cook on the first date, but only if I think she's worthy. Not all gals who date me get to experience my cooking. Above are a few dishes I made for friends. My sushi skills are still a little short. Haven't had the chance to learn how to cut salmon into little slices yet. Did you know the word “sushi” doesn’t refer to fish at all—it refers to rice that has been seasoned with vinegar, sugar, and salt
Who I want to meet:
This is my good friend Harry. I sleep with him every night. For some reason he puts my mind to peace at night. Kind of girly? Fuck you Harry is awesome ;) Look at him. Harry has sad puppy eyes. This pic is to someone who ment a lot to me. Stoopid huh :)
Who I'd like to meet:
Spoon from Vh1 The Pickup Artist's Friend Space (Top 36)
My love. Success is measured in a multitude of facets. My blessings to your book =) We will both be successes in life as long as we follow our personal journeys, for that is one's only responsibility in life.
Oh I am so sorry. Hards times, it is nice that you are home to help out. Yeah it was funny seeing Joe-D in a non-school, non-school party setting. haha. He was showing his fellow theater buds in LA some of his pickup moves and it was hilarious! They are totally awesome, but it was really funny too, probably more funny b/c he is doing it and he was so not suave before, though as an actor he could pull it off anytime! haha. I really hope all becomes well. My love and best wishes to you and your family Spoon.
