It's Kind of a Funny Story was written in December of 2004. Ned Vizzini wrote it shortly after getting out of the psych hospital. (Not a mental institution. Different from a mental institution. We swear.) It was written in one month.

I finished your book last night! It only took me all day in school (I wasn't paying attention in class at all, but my teachers are used to it) and then I finished it at like, 10 last night. IT was really good.
OMG. i bought be more chill the other day at the book store. i was thoroughly pleased.
i suppose that doesn't mean much coming from a 15 year old girl, but you're books always have a way of making me think a different way.
you are my number one inspiration, and i wish i could use it for something. i thought i could write, but i keep losing focus.
how do you keep your focus, ned? is it reall you running this whole shebang? (is that how you spell shebang? i'm too lazy to check on google or something.)
i wish i could meet you in person! i can't wait to read your "quasi-autobiography" next. hehe.
in speech class, i read one of your personal essays for an oral interpretation project. it was from Teen Angst, and it was the one about buying christmas presents at the flea market.
Hey man just want to say great job on the book. You have no idea how much it helped me out, i just recently got out of the psych ward in Canada that I was in for a month, went into for depression and suicide, found out im fast cycling bipolar and skitzo. But my buddy lent me an advance readin version of your book and it just sped up my time in their. By seeing that im not the only one that has had those exact same thoughts and ideas on life and just plain hate and annoyance. I was literly taking notes from some of the chapters to apply the life lessions you learned for yourself so i could try and apply that same thing to myself to try and get through life and try to get through it with the least amount of havoc possible. Just alot of inside thought and ways to treat people and the world just helped me alot with the psycological end of things which got me out of their way faster.
just want to say great job man, im honestly not to sure where id be right now without your book, ive applyed the info in their so much.
Hey, It's Kind of a Funny Story - hope you're having a delicious long weekend (lots of rest, no chores, and maybe some so bad it's good TV)! Get this -- I've been hearing from readers that they're having problems finding "Celebrity Skin" in stores. Eeek!
Anyway, I know you're crazy busy, but if you could do me a favor I'd be REALLY grateful. Call your local Barnes and Noble, Borders or wherever you shop and request the book -- you don't have to buy it (even though I'd love to hear what you think) -- just let 'em know you want to see it on shelves next time you pop in.
You are the absolute greatest -- and don't forget, if you haven't already entered I'm giving away an autographed copy of CS AND a designer T-shirt through my newsletter this month -- check it out at www.lianebonin.com. Take care! Liane
i think that its interesting how you give out your screen name. do you get a lot of random people instant messaging you? it seems as if you would. because youre neat and all.
