About Paul Cooper

It was way back in 1988 when I first discovered House Music. At 16 I started DJ'ing and got my first break on local radio in and around the Leeds area. I created a buzz by being one of the first DJs to champion acid house and techno on the radio in Leeds. Back in 88 the scene was still developing and the only place you could hear house music was ether on pirate radio or in the underground clubs which was then the Warehouse club on Sommers Street in Leeds. I DJ'd on the radio right up until the early 1990's when I started to promote my own nights called 'Phase 1' in 1991 and kept promoting right up until 1999 where I held the infamous United Kingdom nights at the Mint club in Leeds. I hired DJs such as DJ Disciple and Cameron Dante from Bizarre Inc. All this was coupled with DJ'ing in clubs and also working for the Up Yer Ronson team on club projections/visuals at the then, Pleasure Rooms club. I have remixed for Stress Records/ DMC and been signed to various labels over the years. I am currently signed to UK label Deeplife records and my focus now is mainly on production.
