About me:
Ikuo Nakanishi was born on November 20, 1970, in Osaka, Japan.
He graduated from Osaka Prefecture University with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Applied Chemistry and performed research under the supervision of Professor Hiroo Inoue.
Ikuo then moved to Osaka University for graduate school and completed his Ph.D. in Material and Life Science in 1999 under the supervision of Professor Shunichi Fukuzumi, studying base catalysis in electron-transfer mechanism. During this time, Ikuo visited the University of Houston for a month to work with Professor Karl M. Kadish on electron-transfer properties of fullerenes and metalloporphyrins.
Ikuo then joined Dr. Naoki Miyata's group at the National Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS) as a domestic research fellow of the Japan Science and Technoloty Corporation (JST).
Ikuo then moved to National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS) as a senior resercher. His current research focuses on the study of the development of novel antioxidants, which show stronger antioxidative activity than natural-occurring ones.
