Stepping into the spotlight, and rocking crowds with a smooth flow that has been compared to the likes of Mos Def and Q-Tip, Canadian-born rapper Illa Brown has been making noise north of the 49th parallel since 1993. First learning the craft of lyricism from such Canadian influences as Maestro, Swollen Members and The Razcalz, Illa has been developing his own unique character and style and has been steadily paying dues and earning respect from around the country. Always a true MC performer, Ill Bizzy is also known for his role hosting an array of events that have included Bboy jams, fashion shows and For The Luv it talent showcases and The Next Level dance competitions held in Vancouver each year. Illa B has also made a name for himself in Vancity's night-club scene for rockin the mic at several hot spots for the last 7 years, most notably at Lucy Mae Brown and Shine. In 2007 he released his debut album entitled -the illtraduction lp on indie-label Bogueart Entertainment which sold over 2000 copies. The club jam off the disc, Red Apple, saw Top 40 radio rotation in Toronto, Edmonton and Halifax and received a VideoFact grant that spawned the flirtatious music video and hinted at Illa's cross over appeal found in too few underground artists. However, still on the grind and now based in Canada's hip hop mecca -Toronto, Mr. Brown recently put on a memorable showcase at Harlem for the North By North East music festival marking his arrival in Toronto's urban music scene. To establish and expand his reputation as a hip hop artist in the community Illa has landed a new Friday night residency as Host/MC at Czehoski, an urban chic venue that draws its patrons from the surounding fashionable Queen West neighborhood. With production coming down the pipe and new projects in the works, the street buzz over Fridays at Czehoski will no doubt give Ill B invalubale exposure to launch highly anticipated material this year with T Dot waiting, watching and listening.
