Home to the Festival is the City of Wollongong, one of the most culturally diverse communities in Australia with many of its residents born outside Australia and with many languages other than English spoken in the home..... Cultural activities have produced a vibrant artistic community and the Illawarra Folk Festival has showcased them since the beginning..... The Festival was held in the village of Jamberoo for 20 years but moved to Bulli in the northern suburbs of Wollongong in 2006.....
