The GET BY journey began in 2005, with Berd and Tony, who started to write a few songs. In early 2006, Diamond joined the band on guitar, and Eliane on bass. They played their first show a month later, in february, wich went pretty well. Unfortunately, Eli had to quit because she had other projects, and that’s when TigerLouis joined the band, and gave GB the chance to play many shows and share the stage with bands like The First Step, Offsides, No Harm Done, Have Heart, Righteous Jams, Step Forward, Fired Up, Go It Alone, Die Hard Two, When I Fall, Monkey Trouble, Tomahawk Carriers, Royal Rumble, Step Ahead, Set It Ablaze, As They Fall, Try To Win, Burn’Em Down, Radical Attack, Epidemic, I Refuse, The Wishlist, and the list goes on... It also gave us the chance to record a few songs for a pre-demo release, including the song LIFE, that was choosen for the Under Pressure comp "Black eyes and broken bones".
During the summer of 2007, after we played amazing shows in Jonquiere, Quebec city, Chateauguay and Montreal, Diamond and TigerLouis decided to leave the band because they had different things to do and different projects to dedicate themselves to, so they played their last show with GET BY on July 14 in Montreal at the Break North fest along with Have Heart. At that point, our friends Tomahawk Carriers were starting to split up and played their last show shortly after, and Mark who was on guitar for TC decided to join GET BY to fill in on guitar, and Spoiler(ex-Justice, currently in the Omegas and Adult Crash) was nice enough to join and fill in on bass even though he was already busy with his other bands. We played more shows through early 2008 until Spoiler had to quit the band. Meanwhile, Karl(Crucial Times) joined on bass, wich allowed us to write new songs. But times passed and Berd had to leave the band, so we decided to play one last GET BY show, with OFFSIDES, NO HARM DONE, and VILE INTENT, on June 30th 2008. And that was it, our whole story.
We owe most of the good times we’ve had to all of you who supported us, listened to our demos, sang along at our shows, danced and stage dived, and stayed to hang out with us after shows, thanks a lot.
In a few words, this band was all about delivering a positive message and playing energetic music, and having fun doing it together, no matter how different people are in the band, or at a show, straight edge or not, colored hair or not, etc. All of the band members were different from each other and did their own thing in GET BY, but our common ground was keeping a positive attitude, and an open mind.
