Almost two decades ago Tom and Troy created what would become Illicit Sects, under the moniker Shadow Danse. They performed for many years throughout the Denver metro area with this acoustic act, but with the departure of the lead singer the band downshifted into a more metallic groove. With the addition of John and Kurt the band continued to perform and recorded one album, Creation. In 2004 Kurt disappeared from the Sectscape; enter Statch, formerly of Flyboxx. The bands moved even further into the heavy terrain and in 2006 The Art of Futility was released. 2007 saw John leaved the fold, due in part to Social Security restraints on earnings, and in stepped TT, who had spent many years with the bands Nox and Deep Pocket Three. Illicit Sects has reemerged from their spider hole to begin infecting the Denver front range scene as we speak. Check them out locally now!!!
What is Illicit Sects?
Listen as a seven string guitar merges intensely with a six string bass. The melodic chords wash over you; pulsing, twisting, igniting a slow burning fire in your veins. Your body responds instantly; blood pulsing faster, heart beating quicker. Then the drums burst in, heating you with unrestrained strokes; rising swiftly to a double bass crescendo that pounds its way into you. By the time the voice hits you, smoothly and deeply, you’re begging for release. But it doesn’t end and soon you find yourself rising to meet an unspoken challenge.
That is Illicit Sects.
And everybody deserves a little Illicit Sects.
