20 Years Of The Best Blues On The Peoria River Front!
Can you beleive it? This is the 20th year of Central Illinois' premier blues festival. We are also the longest continuous running music festival in downstate Illinois. As always, what a great way to end the summer! Jay Goldberg Events & Entertainment, in association with the Illinois Blues Coalition have teamed up to present another fantastic talent line-up. A HUGE THANKS to Brewers Distributing and Budweiser, our major sponsor. Also, a big thanks to our “Support The Illinois Blues Festival Sponsors” who have really stepped up to help make this festival amazing. If you are interested in becoming a Supporting Sponsor for next year’s Illinois Blues Festival, send me an email to bluesfest@jaytv.com. The Budweiser Illinois Blues Festival is truly the Peoria area’s premiere music festival. Producing this festival is a labor of love. It is a year long project developed especially to entertain you with the the music style called “The Blues!”. This year, blues bands from all over the nation (even Argentina) have called to play. The selection process is hard and, thanks to Ed Knott, we have another tremendous talent line-up!
As a Central Illinois destination event, people travel from all over the United States, to come to Peoria to enjoy the weekend. The hotel rooms get booked! The whole City of Peoria joins in the blues weekend. Be sure and visit all of the downtown and Riverfront night spots as you’ll never know who you may find jamming’ after festival hours.
We welcome our association with the Illinois Blues Coalition, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to continue our tradition of supporting The Blues. The Illinois Blues Coalition will support the various Blues Societies, Blues Music Entertainers and Blues Music Educators by offering grants and scholarships to help fund projects which preserve and promote the history and future of blues music.
As so many of you know, I have been telling the following story for 20 years and........here it is again!
“Peoria has a long tradition and has always been a major influence in blues music. It began with the days when the blues masters would travel from Chicago, down the Illinois River to St. Louis, and then on to New Orleans. Peoria was, and still is, the place to stop. Even the blues men & women knew the cliche’, “Will it play in Peoria?”
I hope you enjoy this year’s Budweiser Illinois Blues Festival. Don’t forget your lawn chair.
