Illuminandi's music is a blend of the band members' fascinations and it is not easy to label. Their influences are quite broad, they certainly include most subgenres of metal and rock as well as hardcore, classical music, early music and even some folk. Rejecting all attempts at precise labelling of Illuminandi's sound, one can say that the most characteristic element of their songs is the combination of crushing guitar riffs and aggressive growls contrasted with the soothing sound of violin, cello and melodic male vocals. As the band's members consider themselves Christians, by means of their music they would like to share with other people the greatest treasure they have - the belief in loving God, Jesus Christ, who can give true meaning to human existence.
The group came into being in Debica, a small town in the south of Poland, in early autumn 1998. It was started by Aleksander Koziol (guitar) and Jan Trebacz (vocals, guitar). Soon they were joined by Antonina Kraszkiewicz (cello) and Patrycja Pyzinska (violin). Aleksander Kraszkiewicz (bass) and Szymon Grych (drums) completed the line-up. The band's goal from the very start was to play heavy music with a positive message. Their first live performance took place in November 1999 at a local festival in Debica.
Illuminandi recorded two demos; 'Demo I' (four tracks) in 2000 and Demo II (3 tracks) in 2002. Demo II caused some stir in the underground press and eventually got the band signed to Bombworks Records, who in 2005 released the two demos together with a couple of live tracks on one CD entitled The Beginning.
Since Illuminandis style was gradually developing towards the darker, metal edge, it soon became evident for the band that they needed someone to handle the aggressive vocals. Thus Rajmund "Melon" Jelen reinforced the band with his powerful growls and screams.
It was in this line-up that Illuminandi recorded their last effort up to date, a 5-song EP entitled Illumina Tenebras Meas. This Latin title means Illuminate My Darknes. Initially, the MCD was to include 4 songs in Polish and one in English, but the band decided to re-record the Polish tracks in English. Thus, the MCD is going to be available in two versions, Polish and English. The songs are varied, the production is better than ever. Prepare for an intense mixture of crushing guitar riffs, pounding bass, raging drums, soothing sounds of cello and violin, powerful growls and screams and emotional clean vocals. You can call it gothic, symphonic, hardcore or death metal, but its simply Illuminandi. The group is currently looking for a label to release the English version of their EP.

Beautiful music on your site - a fascinating and dramatic mix of styles - I could be in a medieval court or at a prog metal gig and all points in between - awesome playing and passionate vocals - love the synthesis of guitars and strings. Wishing you happiness and continued success. Cheers.
