Illuminate the Sky was created on the leap year day of February 2008 and is originally from Oakville, Ontario. Establishing themselves in the local Ontario music scene in 2009, the band played close to 70 shows in just over 8 months, including a 7 day mini tour sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon. The band is also endorsed by upcoming clothing company 'Peter Says Denim', and has been promoted in PSD adds in four issues of Alternative Press Magazine, featuring a roster of bands including Silverstein, August Burns Red, Sky Eats Airplane, Every time I Die, Dead and Divine, Miss May I, Sleeping With Sirens, Of Mice and Men, Bless the Fall, Asking Alexandria and more. After a near 2 year search for a front man, the band entered sundown studio in Guelph, Ontario, with producer-engineer Jordan Valeriote, during the summer of 2010 to beginning recording their self titled debut full length album. Within two weeks after recording, Josh Tiller (singer / front man for 12 months) decided to leave the band to pursue a new path in life, leaving the band back at square one. After the remaining original three members took a long hard look at the bands history and the course Illuminate the Sky has taken to get to the bands current point that is essentially still a beginning stage, they came to the decision they would no longer stay in their home province to continue their singer search, but they would rather explore to a new area and scene, to make new friends and connections and see and experience new things. In September 2010 the band set out on an epic journey across canada to relocate and set up shop in the quiet city of Vancouver, British Columbia. After getting set up, fed, showered, clothed, housed and employed, the band has again started their search for a full time singer / front man in Vancouver. With a new addition coming on bass, the band is now working with a couple potential singers, one of which will be filling in as front man for upcoming early 2011 shows in the Vancouver, and surrounding areas in BC, Washington State, and possibly home to Ontario for a tour if all goes well. It was not a hard decision to continue as a band and find a front man that will permanently represent Illuminate the Sky. We have put three years into writing our album and we intend to get it out to everyone who is waiting for it. We encourage everyone to spread the word that we are searching for a singer, and anyone who is interested in singing for us, record a vocal demo over an instrumental track and send it in to us.
