Originally from San Antonio, but eventually ending up in Dallas, TX, Lucy Loves Schroeder was a pop/punk band that played from 1996-2003. Founding members Sara Radle (vocals/guitar) and Andrew Binovi (bass/vocals) formed the band after collaborating on the music for high school drama production. Rounding out the original lineup was Paul Rodriguez on drums, who was recruited from the same drama production. The band's first recorded output was the song "2-14-96" for a local compilation cassette, the Crispy Chronicles Vol II. LLS recorded their first full-length CD, "It's a Hamster Christmas Charlie Brown" in 1998. The self-released CD featured silk-screened cloth covers that the band assembled by hand. Following the release of "Hamster Christmas," Paul Rodriguez was replaced on drums by Adam Fleming. A full-length demo was recorded with Adam on drums, but was never officially released. By this time the band decided to move to Dallas, TX. Adam left the band rather than make this move.
Upon arriving in Dallas, the band met Rob Schumacher who had recently moved from the Cincinnati area where he had played with the band Saturday Supercade. With Rob on drums, the band recorded "Seven Inch Jellyfish" a 7" EP for the Denton, TX label Grade Nine Records. After this release, the band contributed two songs, "Zermatt" and "Someday," to the Buzz-Oven Vol II CD. LLS eventually signed to Beatville Records in 2001 and released the "Dragon Lady" EP and the full length "Lucy Is A Band." Recorded by John Congleton (the pAper chAse), "Lucy Is A Band" featured the single "Dragon Lady" and "What's the Story," Andrew's ode to a local television reporter. In support of the full length, the band toured the midwest and west coast several times. Recording began on the follow up to "Lucy is a Band" in 2002, but by that time LLS felt as though the band had run its course, and production of the follow up stalled. A demo for "Do You?," one of the songs off that unfinished record, appeared on the "Buzz-Oven All Stars" compilation. The band played a reunion/final show in June 2005.
Sara now lives in Los Angeles where she played with The Rentals for three years and currently with her new project Calamity Magnet. Andrew played bass in the Denton, TX band Cordelane before moving to the Washington DC area where he played in Tiger and the Snow and currently Society of Strangers. Rob went on to play in East Dallas's Slick 57 and currently plays in Ghoultown and several other projects.

I can't believe I found you guys on MySpace. I remember hearing about you a really long time ago when I was in a band called Schroeder. I've had Sara Radle on my list of MySpace friends for a long time and never knew she was part of LLS. Small world! Cheers
The brainchild of Sara Radle (of The Rentals), Calamity Magnet melds the world of indie-pop with girl group harmonies of the sixties, adding a hint of country flavor and the occasional peek at a Beatles influence.
