Ilton Rafael Palma’s DJ life introduction was in 1984 in his home town, the Brazilian southern Canoas, when he was deeply into Progressive and Psychedelic rock from the 60’s and 70’s. Influenced by his older brother (Alaor Palma) who had the records, he then started playing on school parties using his home equipment, a pair of red plastic turntables. It was then that he started his own Kraftwerk record collection from where he learned to love electronic music. His friends called him DJ Ita.
In 1987 he played for a local sound system called "Máquina 20" at the CSSGAPA club where he stayed for 2 years playing Gothic, Pop Rock, New Wave and Surf Music from the mid 80’s, always mixing electronic beats into his sets. That year he also discovered the club "Enigma" and "Porto De Elis" in the city of Porto Alegre where DJ Eduardo Herrera and DJ Edinei were residents and inspired him to grow even more interest for Electronic music, leading Ilton to get his hands into his first acid house track “Maurice Joshua" - This is Acid and after "Inner City" - Good Life. Since then he never stopped updating his new passion.
By the late 80’s, DJs Calvin and Adriano Shaefer opened a record shop called Technique Records, responsible for spreading the electronic genre all over the southern state. In the early 90’s a new local record shop called Caterpillar kicked the techno sound strongly into the southern dance floors and getting him to meet other local DJs such as Luciano Araújo, Gringo and Valter Klein.
The mid 90’s lead him to different experiences on places like the "Kansas Country Rock" club by playing Folk Rock and Country Music. The club also promoted some of the nowadays big Brazilian bands such as Ultramen, Acústicos e Valvulados, Tequila Baby and Comunidade Nin-Jitsu, also held a Work Shop with Sepultura’s Igor Cavallera and CJ Ramone. Other contemporary club he played at the same time was the Barong, together with DJ's Calvin, Luiz Lecster and Adriano Shaefer, where the music policy was World Music and Buddhist Mantras.
In parallel Ilton continued promoting his electronic passion through mixed tapes.
The late 90’s saw Ilton moving towards the underground when he was invited to play for the club Fusion that still happens in Porto Alegre. Since then he’s been experiencing other underground clubs such as Fim de Seculo, NEO, Bar Ocidente, Garagem Hermética, Mix Bazaar, Club Ibiza, Planeta Atlântida 98, Circuito Bar, CONECTA's Project and Lounge Bar where he played his Detroit Techno till the end of 2001.
He returned to the DJ life in 2006 at the Bar Ocidente alongside DJ's Cristiano Mattos and Calvin as well as at Fusion along side Dj's Luciano Araújo, Marcelo Nunez, Eliéser Paze and Luciano Benites.
His biggest influences are Jeff Mills, Stacey Pullen, Carl Craig, Ritchie Hawtin, Kenny Larkin, Juan Atkins, Claude Young, Steve Rachmad, Vince Watson, Laurent Garnier, Orlando Voorn, Paul Mac, Kevin Sauderson, Derrick May, Kraftwerk and Robert Hood.
