   About I, LUDICROUS
"NO ONE SHOULD DIE BEFORE HEARING THIS LEGENDARY OUTFIT" - TIME OUT.........."I, LUDICROUS ARE WRY, FUNNY, FROM A DELIGHTFUL CORNER OF ENGLAND, OFF THE BEATEN TRACK" - Q MAGAZINE.........."I, LUDICROUS ARE WONDERFULLY SILLY" - LONDON EVENING STANDARD.........."I, LUDICROUS ARE LIKE HALF MAN HALF BISCUIT WITH A COLLEGE EDUCATION" - NEW MUSICAL EXPRESS.........."SUBVERSIVELY TIME WASTING STUFF" - UNCUT MAGAZINE.......... I, LUDICROUS have possibly been "the most original band in the world" since they formed in Endymion Road, Brixton, London during 1986. John and Will had become confederates whilst working for Finsbury Data Services - aka Textline - filling the dull days of clerking by amusing each other with jokes, anecdotes, fall lyrics and nasty comments about their colleagues. A homemade 4 track cassette somehow found its way into the hands of Mark E Smith who - without telling them - promptly booked them to support the Fall at a top London venue. The band achieved immortality the following year when their seminal flexi release reached the dizzy heights of number 11 in John Peel's Festive 50. This was followed up by the debut album It's Like Everything Else which also found its way into the top ten of the indie charts. Despite massive sales of the album plus the follow-up single Quite Extraordinary the record label went bankrupt. A few years later A Warning to the Curious was released on Rodney Rodney Records. This was followed by Light and Bitter (named after the band's favourite tipple) before Idiots Savants was released on their own label in 1992 including the track We Stand Around - voted single of the week in NME by guest reviewers New Order (in true Ludicrous style the single was only available in Germany). The glowing reviews of Idiots Savants provided a much needed boost for the band and is still thought by many to be their finest work. Having never given up the joy of working for a living (as in William Blake), the pressures of work, sport, families and drinking meant that the band went quiet for a few years before releasing the Approaching 40 EP. The Museum of Installation was released in 2004 on their own label. In 2007 a retrospective of the band 20 years in showbusiness was released on Sanctuary Records now part of Universal, which meant the band's output was available in shops for the first time in a while. In February 2008 a 5 track cd .. was released to rave reviews. A tour with the Fall was arranged to promote the CD. In 2008 the band finally expanded the line up to a 3 piece when long time friend & fan (ex Voice Of The Beehive & Dollshouse guitarist) Martin Brett joined the band on bass guitar. Hung, Proctor & Brett plan to carry on releasing new material forever & are particularly looking foward to releasing regular singles from the comfort of their nursing home in 25 years time. Dear Clients,
Please decrease your medication and give any of your chavved up left-overs [including any partially chewed remnants] to Nursie, who will naturally give you a reciept which will be valid for swaps for a period of 1 week. We are currently ripped off our tits on the new jollop that the courier has just arsed in from our labs in Zurich.
At $20 each, the current batch of Didactothwackerol 200mg's are a proper good buzz when ringed, unusually they are also a surprisingly good smoke [albeit a little rough on the tonsils],
particularly if crushed up with a fistfull of Prolekreig 400mg's and a spoonfull of meths.
If you would like us to save you some, please send cash only this time [no kites], small denominations only please.

Don't call us...
We'll call you...
Kindliest regrads... etcetera... and so on...

[dictated - not read]

N.B. If you would like to recruit some more clients in Winchester for us, we can now let you have both the stunnozine and strontium 90 suppositories at only fiver each [as opposed to 2 for a tenner as previously striated] if it helps... please speak any of the longer terms patients for further details.
