Dmitry Ilugdin was born on 12 November 1977 in Moscow. Dmitry achieved the higher music education. He graduated from the Russian Academy of Music n.a. Gnesinykh in 2001 with the specialty - piano class of prof. Igor Bryl. Dmitry began to play music when he was 4 years old. Jazz was his passion during all years in the academic music school. The biggest influence at that time made such musicians as Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Duke Ellington and Charlie Parker. The main impact to the beginning of playing jazz was an acquaintance and friendship with jazz musicians and the atmosphere around Dmitry, which was made by his parents - filmmakers, who were acquainted with many famous musicians. In 1992, Dmitry met Israeli saxophonist Boris Hamer in Jerusalem, where he were studying first lessons of jazz improvisation. He performed his debut concert in 1994 at the TSDRI - hall with his trio, created in the course of training in the Russian Academy of Music n.a. Gnesinykh and supported by Yuri Saoulsky, who later became one of the first teachers of Dmitry in the orchestration and composition. Then, during the training, Dmitry was participating in many jazz festivals held at many jazz scenes of Moscow and other cities. In 1997 Dmitry started to compose music tracks for movies and television. Dmitry composed music for many documental and feature films, theatrical performances. Dmirty was a musical creator of the movie "Lift" (2007). Styles, which are always at the highest Dmitry’s preference, are modern jazz, fusion, jazz rock, funk and soul together with traditional styles by virtue of his teacher of the school and the academy, Igor Bryl. In 1998, a young student of the Academy n.a. Gnesinykh, Dmitry Ilugdin was recommended as a pianist and keyboardist to Alexey Kozlov, who was thinking of gathering new members for his legendary band "Arsenal". Thus, starting from that time and up to the present day, Dmitry is the closest friend and partner of Alexey Kozlov in connection with the band "Arsenal" and many other projects. Dmitry collaborates with many musicians of jazz and funk styles. One of them is the violinist Felix Lahuti, Dima’s friend from the Academy years, with whom he writes many records and performes many concerts. Dmitry also cooperates with such Russian fusion musicians like Vyacheslav Gorsky, Sergey Manukyan, Leonid and Nikolai Vintskevich, Anna Koroleva, Igor Boyko. Dmitry writes lots of his own materials. In 2008-2009 Dmitry together with his colleague at the band "Arsenal" - bassist and sound-producer Evgeny Sharikov - released albums named "Vision Of Sound, Volume 1" and "Vision Of Sound, Volume 2" labelled by TORMAX (Switzerland). These discs were recorded in the U.S., in the studio of Los Angeles, with participation of world-known musicians. In these projects, Dmitry worked with such instrumentalists as Gary Meek (sax), Brandon Fields (sax), Frank Gambale (guitar), Jeff Richman (guitar), singers: Kim Nazarian, JD Walter. In “Arsenal”, Dmitry won many jazz festivals in Russia and abroad. Dmitry’s principal teacher and mentor in music is Alexey Kozlov, with whom he had a huge concert and touring experience. Now Dmitry continues working with "Arsenal" - the band, which is a permanent resident of the best jazz clubs of Moscow ("Forte", "Union of Composers" and others). Dmitry writes music for Arsenal as well as for movies and television. Several songs written by Dmitry were included in the published music collection of Yuri Chougounov - "Melodies of Moscow Jazz”. Dmitry continues collaborating with musicians of the classical music. In 2006-2008 he performed concerts and participated in recordings with the State Chamber Orchestra of Russia with Konstantin Orbelyan. Dmitry is the winner of Youth Award "Triumph" of 2001.
