Stop, Drop and Rock! Is made up of 3 musicians ages 14-15 who began playing together in fourth grade. Most of them began without any prior experience singing or playing instruments. Miles Cabrera provides a solid foundation on drums and can also be seen playing bass and guitar. He has contributed to our original songs, writing the music with his parents to several originals. Jasmine McEachran is our fearless vocalist and bass player. She is an accomplished dancer and inspires her fellow band members to up their showmanship. Bobby Warren, fills in on lead guitar. In the last 5 years they have played several local events on the island. Beginning with the Teddy Bear Tea 2005 at the Community Theatre, Stop, Drop & Rock! has played the SJ Prevention Coalition New Year’s Eve Family Celebration and the PTA Talent Show for three years in a row. They have played Roche Harbor Resort and The Second Chance Prom with their music mentors, Ben Rice and the Youth of Blues. They enjoyed playing the monthly open mic at The Grange during the summer of 2006 and have played private parties and donated their fee to funding music and dance scholarships for their fellow students. Playing fund raisers from Relay for Life to music festivals supporting the Orcas Funhouse is paramount to their summer scheduling. In 2008 they have enjoyed spending some time in the recording studio at The Rock & Roll Conservatory. Their first Demo release is scheduled for the Zombie Prom on October 31st 2008 The band enjoyed playing the Casbah and Village stages and Main Stage at the Summer Meltdown this past year in Darrington! At Summer Meltdown they are playing two shows over the weekend and helping with a childrens music workshop. For the last 5 years mid-August, they rocked the San Juan County Fairgrounds debuting their new originals. Playing gigs off-island and out of state provides a much needed opportunity for road trips; Portland OR was our first adventure, playing at Mississippi Pizza.Labor Day weekend 2010. They also host Rock Shop workshops that provide affordable musical instruction for their peers and have helped organize a fundraiser for rebuilding efforts in New Orleans. At this time, they have almost 1 hr of material including 7 originals and several covers. They continue to pursue their own musicianship and work together to express themselves creatively. Former band members include, Nelson Wynn, Chandra Crawford, Isabel Place and Jessica Walch,Kathryn Root, Starla Cosgrove, Rory Reshovsky.

Miles' band is now a High School band, Weird. It's been five years we've been rocking steady, writing new material and working with different musicians. For the first time we are having Open Auditions. We need a some new guitarists and vocalists but are curious who's out there and what instruments they want to bring into the mix. We've found it's easier to work with parents/guardians who are supportive and kind and see the value of teamwork. There are 2 practices each week, Sunday and Monday from 3-6 and closer to big gigs we practice intensely, several days in a row. We try to perform 1 or 2 times within  3 month period. We usually play , Summer Meltdown, San Juan County Fair, off island and are planning a big party on the island New Year's Eve with a band from Summer Meltdown. During the summer, we like to put together a casual tour of the local area and enjoy playing Portland, OR. We record at least once every 3 months and are mixing down tracks to send to an Olympia radio station. If you can commit to practicing at home, attending practices, recording sessions and gigs and have a willing spirit. We want you, talk it over with your parents about how being in a band would affect your family and schedule and come try out.
