BIO:
Every Friday night, on the corner of 5th Ave and 49th St., the sound of reverb drenched guitars, thundering percussion, and voices trying to find a place in the natural world, could be felt emanating from the grounds around the neglected turn of the century neighborhood. The audience of that time consisted of the homeless, the hopeless, and an occasional jogger. Imaginary Planes are a five-piece band from Birmingham, Alabama. Its members united in the Fall of 2007 to create a passionate landscape of material with hopes to expand the boundaries of their song writing prowess. With intersecting guitars, driving rhythms, and bittersweet vocal harmonies, Imaginary Planes set out to cover an entire spectrum of human emotion. Their songs paint a picture of elegance and beauty, with chaos waiting behind every corner. Derived of many influences, Imaginary Planes’ wall of sound approach combines the style and energy of power pop with the oversaturated bliss of shoegaze. Approaching their first anniversary of performing live, they have played over 30 shows sharing the stage with national touring acts including Wilderness, The Donkeys, Damien Jurado, and The Valley Arena, as well as, local favorites Sunny So Brite, The Grenadines, and Slow Masters. The band has just released the first of three 7-inch lathe cuts, and will release its debut full-length 'Into the Great Divide' on December 8th
