FOR MUSLIMS: I am currently studying the SUFI (tariqa) path, so if you would like to suggest some readings, I am open. I should, of course, have listed at the TOP of my Books: AL QUR'AN KAREEM, Buhkari, Sahih Muslim (some Tirmidi and Dawood) and the History of Muhammad (Seerah), especially Haykel and Martin Lings (I am struggling with ibn Ishak (lotta isnad, lotta poems but interesting nevertheless). Though I guess I am Sunni (don't like those designations, I just like to say muslim) I spent this past Ramadan making iftar with the Shi'as out of necessity (they were near my abode and my car was gone most of the time) and it was very interesting. (Ask me about it). I love Shaik Sirhindi amd Imam Gazali and some others of course. Imam Mohammaed says he is not a Sufi and I suspect he has passed that stage.
Music
My favorite Music is Jazz, Blues, and Ballads. My favorite Singers are Billy Eckstine and Sarah Vaughn plus Johnny Hartman, Kurt Elling, Kevin Mahogany, Cassandra Wilson, Nancy Wilson, Vanessa Rubin, Diane Reeves, Joe Williams, Dennis Rowland and a host of others. Of course I love Miles and Trane, and Sonny Rollins, Branford and Wynton Marsalis (a Genius, heck all of Dolores sons are geniuses including Delfayo, Jason, Ellis III [the poet] and Myboya [loved]), Cannonball Adderley and Bird, Kenny Garret and one of my BEST FRIENDS is MR. ELLIS MARSALIS and for sure, I can't get enough of KERMIT RUFFINS. I should also mention clarenetist, composer, Professor
ALVIN BATISTE, under recorded and under appreciated. When it comes to music, I could go on and on. (See my Friends and my Favorites) CHECK OUT ANY 'THREE' OF MY FRIENDS!

'SANKOFA' and To kill a Mocking Bird, Above the Rim w/Tupac. There are some others, like My Fair Lady, Breakfast at Tiffany's and I'll think of some more later. I hate THE COLOR PURPLE!

CNN, 20/20, 60 Minutes, Nighline (I miss Ted Koppel), Gwin Ifil (I love that girl) on PBS. I love Diane Sawyer's voice and I also am infactuated with Robin Roberts. Took me awhile to get hip to OPRAH in her Early Shows. I like Tyra Banks - she should interview Oprah and Vice/Versa a Wise Girl watches them both. ALLAH says: "Who denies My Devotees the Good things of Life?" Not I, said the Blind Man blinded by white fright but "Who owns the Night"?

Maybe I should mention Imams Jamil El-Ami, Warith udeen Umar and Siraj Wahaj tho I have some differences with them - minor, in a way, not major and my Good friend Khalil Abdel Alim. Well, since I listed them I better include Imams Qasim Ahmed, Yahya Abdullah, WALI ALI (the musician), Faheem Shuaibe AND Wazir Shariff Hasan Nadir along with Imam Nashid Salahudin and Jawad Shakir. I better STOP cuz at the TOP, for me, is Imam W.D. (There, I said it!)

Nevertheless, ALL of the People of Abraham believe that G'd has many names (attributes)and all agree with the Opening line of Genesis, "In the beginning G'd (alone) created the Heavens and the Earth". -
Prophet Abraham had two wives Sarah and Hagar (see Genesis 16:3)and two sons, Ishmael and Isaac. Muhammad the Prophet descended from Hagar and Ishmael; and Jesus descended from Sarah and Isaac. Same Ancestor (Abraham) same G'd. Prayers and peace be upon them all and upon you.

Who I'd like to meet: Men and women of Faith who love Life, Music, Theater, Poetry, Painting, Sculptor (actually any of the Arts) and any and all intellectual pursuits. My favorite American Writer is Mark Twain, along with Langston Hughes, Walt Whitman, Longfellow, Shakespeare, Thoreau (then there is this Italian American whose name I may mispell "Lawrence Ferlinghetti") and I am fascinated by the Life of Marie Laveaux from Santo Domingo (Saahira)

Ramadan Mubarak……..!!! Alhamdo-lillah-Till today I have completed writing of 1430 verses of Hamd out of pledged 10000 verses to write, a project to be completed in next 7 years-Inshallah. The language is simple Hindustani and based on the teachings and inspiration derived from Holy Quraan. Though it is very diffcult to recite and listen all the composed verses in one sitting. I have selected 52 verses out of 1430 verses to recite to spread the message of Quraan & Islam for humanity, non-violence, truth and unity to fight war against terrorism.
