Imelda May: the sound of 2009. Having fallen in love with rockabilly and blues as a nine-year-old in Dublin, Imelda May has fused them together and given them a modern twist to create the most exciting and original sound you’ll hear this, or any year.
With her unique style, sexy look and raw energy, Imelda is taking the music scene by storm. Her latest album ‘Love Tattoo’ recently knocked ‘Bruce Springsteen off the number one spot in Ireland and she will be promoting it by touring the country with her talented band of renowned musicians ; Steve Rushton on Drums, Al Gare on Bass, Darrel Higham on guitar, and Dave Priseman on trumpet.
This total Bop-a-Billy blend of tradtastic Hepcats and kitten will be showcasing their new material at a major venue later this year.
Hold on whilst Imelda May is rockin'. It's quite a ride!
CDs currently available:
NO TURNING BACK – Imelda’s first solo release on Foot Tapping Records.
LOVE TATTOO - Imelda's latest CD, which is currently available at all major high street record shops.

Hi Imelda! Neal here from the band Locoswing (formally speakeasy) I have had a great response from a venue for a possible gig in there next summer to coomerate Django Reinhardts 100th Birthday(if he where still alive)! I have included a copy of the email that I have sent to them and I am having a meeting with them on Thursday-it would be amazing to have you guys play at it-we are all huge fans over here as you know. I have included my contact details bellow
Good Morning Gale,
I am contacting you with reference to an idea that I have for a future concert in the grounds of the hospital. I have promoted acts in the past for the Cork jazz festival, and as I am a resident of Inchicore and a regular visitor of the gallery I could think of no better place in which to hold an event showcasing not only the finest jazz musicians from around Europe but also promoting the amazing local talent that we have in Ireland, both North and South of the border. I am aware that the Royal Hospital has held a number of music events in the past such as extremly succesful Leonard Cohn concert, and would appreciate any information on how these events were permited and managed. As a musician myself I am in contact with many artists from around the world and I am sure that given the right marketing a jazz event in Dublin such as this would be hugely succesful. I have based the idea of the event to mirror somewhat the annual Django Reinhardt festival in Samois Sur Seine just outside Paris. Artists that I am in contact with currently include Imelda May, Angelo Debarre, Regina Carter, Andreas Oberg, The Water boys, Louis Stewart, the Hot club of Dublin, Evan Christopher and Django Creole, Tchavolo Scmidtt and many more. I have included Bios of each artist in this email for your reference. Django Reinhardt was the first great jazz guitar player, an inspiration to many, and an icon who still has thousands flocking to see any events around the world carrying his name. Ireland as yet
