An in deed interesting and new contribution to the style of »atmospherical metal meets heavenly women’s voices« is provided by Imentu’s debut album »Euphoria«. Most of the song material remains all in all rather quiet, erupts however all of the sudden in walls of heavy guitar sound. Once in while the band even hoovers above the musical landscapes of jazz and collects the new maths of progressive rock. Yet, they're never becoming too abstract in doing so. There is no shying away from the small yet well-targeted slants, for instance the atonal atmospheric sounds in »Incommunicado«, and that is what prevents the listener from drifting apart into a pleasure far too flat. The singer’s clear, calm and highly pitched voice unflappably masters even the most complex melodic patterns and creates along with the other instruments an interesting mixture of relaxed atmosphere versus electrifying tension. Here and there Imentu are to resemble the first two albums of the Norwegian Band »The Third And The Mortal« with her second singer Ann-Mari Edvardsen, without their special, renowned style and providing a musical structure that is far more catchy. Yet their overall sound is truly unique. »Euphoria« became an amazingly beautiful soundtrack of escapism, which offers a lot of variety through its rich guitar attacks. Imentu are, along with »Todesbonden«, probably the most interesting new act in the genre of heavenly-voices-metal since a very long time. These who look for cheap thrill are – thank God – completely out of place! Kasprzak
