After two years of touring the world, I’m From Barcelona return with “Who Killed Harry Houdini? “ . The album is produced by Emanuel Lundgren and Fabian ”Phatfabe” Torsson and the track “Gunhild” features the talented French singer SoKo. The first single “Paper Planes” will be released Aug 18 and the video is directed by Jonas Odell (U2, Franz Ferdinand). The album will be released in Europe September 24 and in the US Oct 14.
Who Killed Harry Houdini? The worn old magic box lies in the attic. The ropes, cups, magic wand and cards haven’t been used in years. If you open the box you can still hear grandma..s words echoe from far within: – Ha, you can tell he has it up his sleeve.
Those words that once hurt so much. The question is, will that magic box ever be opened again?
But he doesn’t give up. The tricks get more advanced as the years pass by. He gets more and more skills and his fingers get quicker. He does false shuffles, deals from under the deck, anything to dazzle his audience. This is for real – he is dead serious! Friends, parents and grandparents gets sawed in half, rabbits turn to doves just to transform into a magnificent bouquet. But no one is impressed. Emanuel Lundgren gives up. He returns to the attic, collapses the top hat and passes both his dreams of becoming the greatest magician and his old magic box away.
Let’s move forward. The year is 2007, Waiting at Heathrow Airport Emanuel wishes that his fear of flying could disappear. He enters a book shop and his eyes fall upon “The Secret Life of Harry Houdini”. The book about the famous escapologist makes Emanuel remember his own failed career as a hobby magician. Inspired by Houdini he decides to try the daring act to get locked inside the studio and ask someone in the audience to throw away the keys.
The questions, as always, outnumber the answers when trying to find out who killed Harry Houdini. But Emanuel is pretty sure we can find the answer somewhere among the songs on the album.
