Chris Klein, Ron Slattery, Mike Greaney, Dan Sopher, Darrick Elia, Al Rodis, Jimmy Vonesh ..... Dave Lim, Dan ???, Jared Toporek, Ed Schafer, Bruce Lamont and a buncha other folks who'd roll by to jam.
Like a 5th grade science experiment gone awry - put Johnny Cash, Motorhead, Russ Meyer, Bob Barker & a polka band in a plane then crash it into a brewery ... Bondo is what rises from the wreckage.
Summer of '97 ... Roscoe Village in Chicago ... a group of friends got together to mess around on a bunch of different instruments, drink some beer & have some fun. 7 months later we recorded a cd called 'Fistful of Biscuits' with Johnny K. at Groovemaster studio.
Our first show was at "The Damen" in Roscoe Village and was a rowdy 5 song set that featured the original line-up. Over the years members changed but the core remained the same. We even had some guest players who showed up every once in a while. Anyhow - we played places like Big Horse, Beat Kitchen, Morseland, The Gallery (in Normal IL), Lincoln Square Lanes, The Note, Mutiny, O'Malleys, Lounge Ax & Double Door. The shows were more of an event ... circus style ... with prizes for the audience. The key was having fun.
Once - we set up a show at the Gallery with Ruth Buzzy ... since our shows were boozefests for the band & the audience, we hired a schoolbus to drive us & 38 fans down to Normal, IL for the show. Of course we had to get a keg for the ride! That show was outrageously fun!
So why the mySpace page now?
Well, folks have been telling me "hey, I miss Bondo" ... and although we only released the one full length cd and a self recorded X-mas E.P., there's a bunch of practice tapes & demos & live tracks that we never got around to releasing. I figured - what the hell, why not pop some of those up on mySpace! So I'll be rotating songs every couple of months for anyone who cares.
Fuck you it's Ours
I have a feeling many of you have been at a party, or received a comp from someone with a song called Fuck You I'm Drunk. And I'd be willing to bet it's credited to Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Dr. Demento, The Dubliners, The Pogues, etc etc etc. Well, that is wrong. We wrote that song in 1997 & it appears on Fistful of Biscuits as F.Y.I.D.
How'd it happened? We entered a contest at beer.com back in '98 and did pretty well (14 out of 500 or so entries). The mp3 was free to download not only from beer.com, but from thedailydirt.com as well. Somewhere along the line, the mp3 id tags got munched & it's been traded all over the internet as someone else.
If the song starts out "I bang on the door ..." then you know it's Bondo. Although, there have been some nice folks out there who have covered F.Y.I.D. - The McRyatts & Spew who gave credit where credit is due - Thanks Guys. Oh - check out Youtube as well ... the song has inspired some raucous videos as well.
Anyhow ... I hope you enjoy the songs & pics, and once I figure out how to convert VHS to a lil mpeg video I'll post clips of us on the "Rock My Ass" tv show & at Meatfest '01 & other various stuff.
Thanks for adding the new page... the old one is still there but we've been locked out of it; either we're hacked, suspended, or banned; not quite sure & customer service won't give a simple straight answer... I don't think we were hacked, because the last login date hasen't changed since we last logged in, so this is probably Myspace's doing, but we're not excactly sure why. Anyway this is the official myspace for now, so delete or disregard the other one if you haven't already. Remember if this page ever gets compromised that you can always type in - Shiteman. com - to find our latest spot online... this is our 3rd attempt at a myspace page, and if this one goes under, we'll probably look elsewhere; because myspace sucks & is only getting worse.
Once again, thanks for your friendship & support, we've always thought you guys kick ass, which is why we had to do our own version of FYID - wish us luck as we attempt to rebuild, John McGreal
We just got off a Time Machine from the 1980's Chicago Punk Scene. We have a reunion show to do Sat. Dec. 29th at the Lucky Gator Loft at 1278 N. Milwaukee Ave. Can you point us in the right direction?
Thanks for the add!! Sought you out after hearing FYID and only finding a credit to Dr. Demento because people are too effing lazy to read the liner notes on comp albums and give the correct credits.
Glad to hook up with the real thing. Look forward to hearing more of your stuff.
Hello, Over the years we have suffered many panic attacks, Deaths of friends and family members, Births of our own beutiful children, Some of us have been near death and found away to stick around, We saw the begining of the war and found the light of faith, Traveled deap into the words and music of our art, Learned and gathered the wisdom that will carry us thru to the next exibition of our lives, WE have held the ocean of gods tears and faced most of our fears, Being in the band wasnt about becoming famous, But more of a tribute to god, A spirtual journey, Not all of our actions were worthy of gods affection, but alot of them were, We have one more show on Aug. 31st {fri 8pm all ages) at The House of Blues We would love to see all of you that have given this band support, God bless all of you, peace dana
FUCKIN A guys! About time BONDO gets the credit its deserved for years for FYID. God, I had to argue with some friends at a Frat party last year because they started singing that song. I told them who TRULY did it and they said you're wrong it's the dropkick murphys. Boy was i pissed. Finally it's getting cleared.
