Greetings! I am Australia's own, world famous, Queen of burlesque- actually i'm more notorious than famous and that's how I like it. I've been a performance artist since the eighties with a particular penchant for deconstructing burlesque. In truth i'm a burlesque saboteur - playfully disemboweling female archetypes with the flair and finesse of a pure artist. My appeal is more cult than mainstream... I guess I'm more naughty than most and definately more bent.
I am a skilled circus aerialist performing many times at the Sydney Opera House Studio... actually I do believe I was the first Burlesque performer to ever do a show at the grand old house- inflatable titties and all!
I am also a writer and specialise in scripts- plays and films. I am a NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts) which has led me to directing.
My family is fabulously non conformist... I am an ex-convent girl... a street kid... a dissident... glamorous gutter escapee who began on the streets of Sydney's Kings Cross and wound up playing the international stages- London, Tokyo, New York, Vegas and Gay Paris!!!.
I have just recovered from a world tour- Uk to the USA- and am concentrating my efforts on my homeland of Oz- That is the Oz with the munchkins and flying monkeys.
I am creating my new theatre show - The Undressing Room for The Melbourne Fringe festival 2008. It will be featuring some of my favourite acts including Let them eat Cake! (Marie Antoinette), Perfect (1950's housewife), Monster (UV Muppet) and Transform (quickchange act.) It will be playing at The Ball Room at the Lithuanian Club in North Melbourne late Sept. If you want more or have booking inquiries have a look at www. imogenkelly.com.au. Stay tuned cyberspunks!!! X
Kimle tanışmak isterim: I am looking to meet like-minded artists, writers, directors, musicians, managers, producers and people that are interested in the weird and wonderful. To be continued...
Just to let you know, I am currently taking bookings to raise money for animal victims of the Victorian bushfires. If you or your friends or family book a photoshoot for your pets during Feb and March 50% of the TOTAL ORDER will be donated towards animals affected by the bushfires.
Woodford! Amazing. We were there the first lala night, the loudest hooligans, howling out love and "play it again!" What hot ladies! (Yow!!!) Such thrilling transgression of boundaries! What smooooth transitions! Could it be the best production of it's sort I've ever seen?
