Hakkımda: Impact Theatre Co. is a small but dedicated group committed to the production of work from beyond the mainstream in theatre. We aim to offer an intimate and immediate experience to our audiences and are further committed to the development of talent in the performance, writing, design and production elements of theatre. At present we are facing into our 10th year in existence. In Autumn 1996 a group of 5 people decided in a small bar in Limerick, to have a go at establishing a Fringe Theatre Company. What was important was that there were ideas, energy and a common knowledge that if we wanted alternative theatre in Limerick we would have to do it ourselves.
Since those first tentative steps Impact have gone on to do productions of Sartre, Beckett, Checkov, Steven Berkoff, Henrik Ibsen, and David Mamet among many others. In Spring 2004 we moved to 18 The Crescent, O Connell St, Limerick. Last season we had a jam packed line up with sell out performances of Neil La Bute, Harold Pinter, Edward Albee, Dario Fo, Darren Maher, Aurther Miller and Ray Bradbury.
It's been a pretty hectic programme for a company with no money and no home until two years ago. We now have a core group of practitioners of 25. Our patrons and audience have remained loyal since the beginning and have sustained us through the ups and downs. We hope to continue into the next 10 years to equal the passion and creativity that we have strived for in the past.
We have since moved to Limerick Printmakers in Cornmarket.
