For David and Angie Ebensberger the name Impending Bloom pretty much says it all. Though God
planted the seeds and vision for music ministry in their hearts many years ago, only recently have
those seeds sprouted, stretched above ground and begun to bloom. "It takes a while to die to one
dream, embrace another and then see it become a reality." David says. "Especially when all of this
happens a bit later in life while juggling the responsibilities that come with having a family.
"Sometimes we thought it would never happen, or that it was just too late. But we felt such a passion
for ministry and believed it was just a matter of remaining obedient." Angie adds.
Having already experienced some success in Christian music as a recording artist (Angie) and as a
writer/producer (David), the Ebensberger's moved to Nashville in 1992. Though their desire was to
succeed in Christian music, God began to reveal the selfish motives that were present in their hearts.
God was calling them to a deeper commitment to Himself and to a clearer understanding of the
responsibility that is tied to one's talent or gifting. "God was allowing us to see the emptiness that
comes from any pursuit apart from Him while simultaneously opening our eyes to the great sense
of purpose that comes from joining Him in His work for His glory. It was time to lay down our dreams
and allow God to give us new ones. And He did." David says. God began to birth a vision for music
ministry deep in their hearts. No longer would they be motivated by the desire to merely see
themselves succeed. Now they would be driven by a strong desire to know that they were being used
by God to make an eternal difference in the lives and spiritual well-being of others.
"The bottom line," David says, "is that we must yield to God and allow His purposes for us to be
fulfilled. They set out to begin writing and recording songs that reflected the growth in their walk with
Christ. "The goal was to just be ourselves and communicate the truth of God's word through song
in a very sincere and relevant way." Angie recalls. These songs are now available on their debut
cd, simply titled Impending Bloom.
Though it has taken quite awhile for them to redirect their motives, goals and actions, David and
Angie are finally seeing the fruit of their labor. This is true of their ministry as well as their family life.
In fact, the two have begun to overlap. Their three daughters, Abigail, Emily and Phoebe are also
blessed with musical ability and the desire to be used by God. "The reality of ministering as a family
is almost like God's way of rewarding us for persevering." Angie relates. "We tried for so long to
balance family life without letting go of what we felt called to in ministry. It appears that God is
honoring that by allowing us to minister together as a family. That is something I dreamed of in my
youth." she recalls.
Needless to say, David and Angie are excited about the fruitful season that lies ahead. It is their
prayer that God will use them, their family and their music to challenge and encourage the Body
of Christ to yield to the Father and allow his pruposes to prevail.
With the ability and desire to lead worship as well as perform their original material, Impending Bloom
are a great choice for your next ministry event.
