Cats
I've had cats in my life for as long as I can remember. I almost can't imagine living without their company; they are so much a part of who I am, and have shaped what I have and will become.
For a time (4 years, maybe?) I breed and showed Egyptian Maus. I even had a CFA Grand Champion. I had to give up breeding and showing, because it was just far too difficult for me to let go of my cats; plus, no matter how good you are with taking care of them, you're going to lose a kitten now and then. My last Mau, a 19-year-old male named Jack, died in January of 2008. I still live with a sweet 7-year-old boy who was raised on my compost pile back in Columbus, OH until I took in the mother and his brother (both now in different loving homes), and a beautiful little long-haired girl who is about 3-years old; she was rescued from the side of the road by a fellow nursing student, and I gave her her forever home.

This is my Micah. He's a silly boy.
I Love You, Jack
I am sad to report that my Jack died on January 21st.    19 years, 3 months, and 5 days is not nearly long enough to be with such a wonderful little man. I'll deal more with updating this portion of my page later. I don't quite have the heart for it just yet.
I did manage to start a page in his memory. Feel free to visit Jack's Page
Well, that's a super-quick bit about me cat-wise. If you are a fellow cat-lover, drop me a line. I enjoy hearing about others' experiences with their feline friends.
I started piping with a community pipe band, but my first true instructor was David Daye.
After David Daye moved away from Columbus, I took lessons locally from Robert Grant, who had coincidentally just moved to Columbus from Buffalo.

I also began taking instruction in piobaireachd, which is my real reason for piping, from Iain Macey in Michigan,
and I had tuition from the late Lindsay Kirkwood during his time at Wooster College in Ohio.
I came to Jacksonville in order to attend MacMurray College via a piping scholarship that put me in the good hands of Will Muirhead. Unfortunately, the school ended that program at the end of my first year, leaving me without an instructor.
With the lack of an instructor and the attention that I had to give to my nursing classes, I have been away from piping for about two years. I do plan to return, however; look for me at the games in 2009.
Television
Perhaps the best show ever on TV: LOST! I love this show. The only other TV show that held my interest in the way that Lost does was Babylon 5. Great acting, great plot, and mysteries that do not readily give themselves up.
Heroes
Well, who doesn't love Walter Cronkite? He's my hero, if ever I had one.
If you've visited me before, you'll see there are some major changes to my profile: I finally got rid of the div overlay. While I liked being able to make my page look however I want it, it's just too much of a pain in the butt to modify. Even when I'm just stuck in the hatch, I need something better to do with my time than work on a MySpace page.
Feel free to message me with suggestions, including whether you liked it better the other way.
I know
Love does not take
Love does not give
Love just is.
Love does not own
Love does not want
Love is just another word
Another name. another place
Another time.
Love is real
It does not steal,
not blind.
Brilliant,
Dazzling,
One of a kind.
I don't know.
I do know
Which one is it?
Neither.
Just let it all be,
Then you will see.
Not wanting, not looking,
Not searching for a thing.
Just breathe
You and me.
