About me:
Although I almost came away with a BS in Anthropology from the University of Michigan back in the late 60's, after a 5 month stint in Venezuela (mostly at the Orinoco River's headwaters), I became convinced that the last thing any self-respecting native needed was yet another missionary or anthropologist with whom to contend. Subsequently, I earned an AA degree from the local community college and spent 20 years or so in the electronics industry, before retiring to the woods.
I'm a lover of natural history and happy owner of 2.5 acres of woodland with a small creek at the foot of the property. Frequently I play host to local deer and raccoons and a wonderful variety of birds.
A couple of months ago I finally I faced into the financial reality of un-retiring myself... and was lucky to land at least a temporary position with a local outfit, which manufactures all kinds of transponders for the agricultural industry -- anything from complete weather stations to ground moisture, "leaf wet," and water flow sensors. Thanks to satellite communication, such technology allows the 21st century farmer to sit at his desk and keep tabs on just what's going on throughout his acreage. Neat stuff! I am only 20 minutes from work, and my coworkers are good folks, too. We ship products world wide.
The sky is dark out here in the country, and I'm delighted to say the viewing is pretty good for this old amateur astronomer. Of course it's really best when the moon is not lighting up the sky. Right it looks a bit like this:

"Seki hu kanjya"(Red Wind official) says ・・・ "Human being is destined to worry."
*For your information, "Happou Gengaku" is a theory hinted from the occurrence of thought process, which could be positive/negative, from psychological perspective.&l

I feel that it is an EXTREMELY important film and that people should be aware of how they're being MANIPULATED and receive information from sources outside of the mass media.
Parts 2 & 3 are especially important and relavent to what is going on in our world. If this moves you please pass it on so that others may be aware.

P.S. Part 1 is only not especially significant, especially to Non christians

Ahhh, I didn't know there was a word limitation--just like in live talk! Rules-Rules-Rules! I always miss those cues. Here is the rest of the entry below, now it is out of order:
My other limitation is that I see and experience almost all things in shades and hues, not differentiatable into stark and polarized categories like black and white, right and wrong, attractive or repulsive. It seems that to do this would waste the strength inherent in diversity because in the separation, elements could not flow and mingle, finding ways to mediate each other. Also, how could I laugh at my errors if they are stuck in the "repulsive box"? And if I can no longer laugh at myself, I will be a pretty grim person, because I do make a lot of errors.
But, I am a tenacious student, so, I shall put on my pondering hat and try to understand.
Beauty is indeed in the “I” of the beholder. What we perceive through vision, although miraculous, is only the vehicle for transmitting particular information or images. The magic and life is in how the input then weaves into the essence of who we are. Dreams, hopes, fears, joys, aspirations, convictions, interpersonal contacts and, perhaps most pleasing of all, a plethora of sensual memories—being caressed (in this case, by nature’s gentle hand), all combine together to rate the value of the whole for each of us, separately.
Just to gaze at an image such as this causes me to breathe in the light, mist-filled air and savor the scents floating on the breeze. In my surrender, I can feel the soft air upon my skin. Totally immersed in the moment, I can lightly laugh my delight, and spill tears of sorrow for those who are deprived of such riches. I can float, I can fly—In beauty I am free! How can beauty ever be experienced as a simple image? I think not.
And how rich the moment when shared with someone cherished, side by side, melting together in sheer beauty. I caution you, my friend, not to dampen the pure delight of experiencing beauty in the moment, with the scientific principles that explain its structure. While we use the mind and the objectivity of science to understand the workings of things. We use the heart to embrace and experience them and we use the spirit to animate their presence into restorative action. We do need both, always. Remember, contradictions are also complementary, when honored, balance is insured.
I will ponder you model of having each experience sorted into one of three categories, Attractive, Repulsive, or Without Interest. At first thought, it is a difficult notion for me to understand. Since most of my experiences are interwoven and fluid, I wouldn’t know how to dissect them into isolated chunks that could be sorted. (besides that, I haven’t proven to be a very competent file clerk). My other limitation is t
Perhaps in the case of many who become friends here, beauty may also exist in ones heart and (in the best of moments) one's intentions as well....
Regarding the "I" of the beholder
I'm thinking that to be open to all that is, one must become increasingly aware of the filters which are subconsciously imposed on the universe -- sorting each perceived phenomena into one of those three ubiquitous pigeon-holes: Attractive, Repulsive, or Without Interest.
Perhaps I would be better off in the long run learning discriminate what is skillful and compassionate vs. my (oh-so-many) unwise intentions, which simply perpetuate my own particular "merry-go-round" of samsara.
Each moment that I can really let go of my self-centered criticisms (which oh so easily discriminate the beautiful/not-beautiful), perceptions have an opportunity to hold this the world in the context of a true beginner -- fresh and pregnant with possibility. As a good spiritual friend of mind is wont to remind me: "Beginners have many choices; experts, few."
Still, what a beautiful waterfall... Perhaps it has more to teach us about flow and grace than any of these silly words of mine, eh?
Be well, Chris, and, yes, thanks for sharing such a "beautiful" picture.
