This myspace site is for Improve Something photo takers and participating artists only. That includes lyric writers, music composers, singers, musicians, graphic designers, etc..
If you'd like your band or personal profile to be added to our friend's collection here, your add request should include either a note saying that you'll be writing lyrics (and/or music) for the Improve-This-Song campaign...
OR
...that you'll be contributing some other original artistic creation for the Improve Something Song music video productions -- whether it be Make-It-Better/Beautiful photographs, video clips, graphics, slogans, etc..
In other words, our friends list is limited to people who are taking some sort of positive creative action to Improve This Song!
All of you other slackers will have to settle for subscribing to one of our other myspace sites.
Welcome to all of the Improvement Movement Fun!
This is a truly collaborative artistic project dedicated to making things better in some tangible way.
NOTE TO SONGWRITERS (and music fans): As artist creations are submitted (or improved) they will be rotated on the music player above and on our main myspace page.
They will also be added as soundtracks to the Improve Something Song music videos.
We're compiling Improve Something photos from all over the world for this ongoing Improve Something project. These pictures are taken by fun-loving, peace-loving, people like yourself for inclusion in our new collaborative Improve Something Song music videos.
As the photos come in we're adding them to the official videos, publishing new versions every two weeks. Visit here often to witness the videos improve and improve and improve!
There's no sound yet, so you don't have to mute anything else to play version 2.2:
Version 2.3a has an original and beautiful song by Ennis, so be sure to pause anything else playing before watching:
Version 2.4 of the video will be published here in October, with music by a new artist (it could be you!), so please send in your pictures and/or songs ASAP!
Once we have a couple of good songs (and videos) produced, we're going to start aggressively promoting the Improvement Movement, bigtime.
We are accepting original poems, essays, and songs (all genres) from creative musicians, composers, and writers who wish to offer their own interpretations of what the Improve Something Song campaign should be.
Musical style is up to the artists.
Jazz, Classic 60's Flower Power Rock, Pop, Country, Operatic, Classical, Grunge, Punk, New Wave, etc.
Eventually, we'll select the best entries in each musical category to serve as permanent soundtracks to the various categories of Improve Something Song videos.
Depending on the songwriter, each video may focus on improvement in general OR improvement in a particular subject... like improving relationships, or improving the environment, or improving political relations, or improving your dancing, or improving your mastery of a musical instrument or an artistic talent, or improving your sense of humor, whatever.
NOTE: If you're a songwriter and you've already composed a song which you feel works well musically, consider changing the lyrics a bit to fit the Improve Something Song concept (unless it already does) and submit it.
It's your music, so that's not cheating.
Original parodies or satire of existing popular music may be ok, too. Consult your attorney. Heh.
Of course, it's completely up to you as to how you compose your original music (with or without lyrics), as well as how you take your photos (if you're not a musician), or you can do both:
Be creative, be boring, be complex, be simple, be playful, be serious, be reverent, be flippant, be funny, be sad, be sincere, be sarcastic, be sexy, be prudish, be silly, be non-silly, be thought-provoking, be profound, be shallow, be them, be you!
We look forward to seeing your photos and/or hearing your songs.
NOTE: Don't be shy! Feel free to submit any unfinished stuff that you've sketched out in order to inspire ideas in others who are participating in this project -- as well as receive constructive critiques of your ongoing artistic composition.
Don't worry how raw it is. We're tweakers just like you. We fully understand that it's always a work in progress. Check out the name of our main website: ImproveSomething.com, 'k?
We're Here to Help
We can offer you genuine encouragement OR over-the-top harsh criticism, whichever you prefer. :)
Thanks to Karen and Maureen of Ennis for their beautiful song "Give Me Love" (see our top friends) -- it's the soundtrack to version 2.3 of the Improve-This-Song campaign.

IMPROVE SOMETHING
There’s a song the world is singing There’s a bell the earth is ringing There’s a hope that time is bringing To you and me There’s a burden we’ve been bearing But we feel a newfound caring There’s a dream that I am sharing For all to see
All around us we see trouble Seems like evil’s working double And our blood might boil and bubble As we despair But we need to take that power Come down from our ivory towers Every seed becomes a flower With tender care
So if you’re one of those who’ve Witnessed something that you don’t approve of Look around and find your groove Take your life and move it Take that something and improve it
Oh so many are estranged We all see the need for change Now there’s a call to rearrange— To renovate We all have a touch that’s healing And we need to be revealing From our hearts some fellow-feeling It’s not too late
NOTE: We're busy working on completing version 2.3 of the Improve This Song music video and will be approving all of the new friend requests and comments after it's done. Thanks for your patience.
INVITATION: Dear friend airplay again Next Monday US CHICAGO RADIO STATION UIC radio will introduce me and airplay my music....can't wait to tell you that. if you have time would like to invit you to Uicradio. org Chicago time 12-4 pm.
Due to technical difficulties, version 2.3 of the Improve This Song campaign video will be published a few hours late this week. Look for it here tomorrow afternoon.
Meanwhile, we'd like to thank Karen and Maureen of Ennis (see our top friends) for their wonderful song "Give Me Love" which serves as the beautiful soundtrack to this week's Improve Something video.
It's quite the inspiring song and will definitely be in contention for the permanent soundtrack to the video in their musical category.
ok then:) I improved an old song of mine and made you a recording today. It is not the "improve something song" BUT I am donating it to your Improve Something Campaign for any non-profit use you can find for it:) Feel free to slice & Dice, re-mix, use any or all of it. It is happy earthy folksy girly music, a song called "simple". Here is the url:
Well, it's completely up to you and your artistic interpretation of what the Improve This Song campaign music should be... but if we were given a preference, it would be something uplifting, beautiful, fun, and/or amusing.
Something about making things better... or trying to, anyway.
But it's completely your call.
We look forward to hearing what you come up with.
We're going to use the songs people write as music for our ever-getting-better Improve Something videos -- which consist largely of pictures that people send in of them holding up the ImproveSomething. com sign.
